I can see no reason why Parish should go. We haven't had this level of stability and consistency either in terms of the club and its finances or its status in the league in the nearly 50 years I've been supporting them.

Since you asked my first game was when my Grandfather took me to my first game and at that time CP were in 3rd Division (South) and then shortly after that the old 4th division was formed and CP were founder members of that division. In those early days I lived in Catford and then Forest Hill and irrespective of where I have lived in the world including Australia and New Zealand I have always followed, wherever possible Crystal Palace. Hope that answers your question?

DB, I don’t think Parish should go either. I just think that whilst he remains majority shareholder in the club he is insufficiently wealthy to allow us to grow.

I would love it if he stayed as a minority shareholder, but I would temper that by saying, only if the money coming in is right for the club. From a personal standpoint it must be almost impossible for him to give up the reins however.

Good idea. I don't think a philanthropic billionaire owner will be good for the club or supporters. It's far more likely to go toxic. Watching the second series of Sunderland til I die its obvious that sending the bill off to some disinterested American isn't the way forward.

Frankly it's just begging and begging isn't a way to be successful.

Since CPFC2010 took over we've overtaken the likes of Fulham, Blackburn, Hull, Sunderland, Cardiff, QPR and others. This is because we have to be astute and careful with investments.

I agree, People either have short memories or they haven't supported Palace long enough.
I'd take struggling in the best league in the world with no money worries (compared to the old days) over struggling in the Championship or even in leagues lower down with less than 10,000 showing up, the pitch looking like a cows field, pinning all our hopes on a journeyman striker that in reality is only there for one last contract and the threat of administration looming every season.
People romanticize about the Championship etc. Reality is the club was in a poor state and there was no money to change that. Promotion broke the cycle and staying in the division (by all means necessary) keeps Palace strong financially as well as makes us that tiny bit stronger every year we remain at the top table.

As a supporter since the 60s I can relate to those experiences, accordingly I wholeheartedly concur with these sentiments.

Some of the comments here remind me of that old Jethro Tull song, Living in the Past, whereas it should be the Yazz song, The only way is Up.

When I saw Pardew celebrating Puncheon's goal at the FA Cup Final I was reminded of the 70s Sister Sledge song "He's the greatest dancer".

Southampton and Leeds were in League 1 in 2010, Leicester were higher than us in the Championship, and Wolves were in the Premiership. All 4 have much bigger resources than us.

Granted Leicester have performed better than us over the last decade. There's that much between us, Southampton, and Wolves over the last 10 years despite being at a financial disadvantage. We have outperformed Leeds, and drastically out performed all the teams listed on my previous post.

We are a very well run club even if we are being a little too cautious at the moment.

They are all bigger clubs than us so how have we fallen behind them?

I’m with you about looking up rather than down.
I go back to days of the old third division and acknowledge that historically we are in a good place in relative terms.
Does that mean we should forever be trapped into a mindset that we are exceeding a position where we belong and are not allowed to aspire or dream?
Leicester would never have won the league with this mindset.
Brentford would forever be fluctuating between the old third and fourth divisions as opposed to fighting like hell to get to the Premier League.
Parish has previously said he felt Palace are at only at about 40% of where we could be.
It seems many on here would have to be dragged kicking and screaming to share this vision.
For a start I’d like to see us have a manager who sees Leicester and Southampton as competition rather than Sheffield U and WBA.
The real crime is to aim low and miss.
