If anyone on here has played football, then they will know that as you get older, you pick up more injuries, and takes longer to recover than when you started out playing. If you look at the published injury list now, most are muscle strains - no breaks or ACLs etc.

The problem we have with our aging squad is the same as last year - an injury crisis waiting to happen. This is compounded by our inability to plug the gaps with decent academy players as they transition to the first team - this is what Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and United have all been able to do.

Not going to help immediately but with new cat 1 status and youth doing well (U18 currently topping their league) the youth will eventually trickle up.

Sadly until then we have to plug innumerable gaps with purchases with limited funds.

Yes, but how many of the current U18 squad will make the grade in the PL? I've no idea but I suspect we will do well if we get 3 or 4 of them who make the grade. There aren't many 'class of 92' or 'team of the eighties' moments where more than half your first team rise up from the youth ranks together. Furthermore, if we are looking to the Academy as a long term solution then it's vital we remain in the PL or we risk losing the better youngsters.

A serious collection of bed wetters on this thread. No chance of us going down, in my opinion.

Well; it's good to have your word for it. I feel so relieved I might discard the Pampers. Instead of the cheap insults, let's have some serious engagement with the issues. Where do you see the points coming, and why? It's all opinion. That's the whole point!

Have a look at Fulham's fixture l and ask yourself where are they going to get all the points they need to overtake us. They have L'pool, Man City, Leeds, A.Villa Wolves, Chelsea, Arsenal Man Utd.

They did have a helping hand (or lack of) when Grobelaar dived over the ball and Oldham won at Anfield (I think). It went to court and he was officially exonerated.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

Yes I remember the wild celebrations thinking we were safe only for Oldham to beat the top 3 and then relegate us by 1 goal difference on the final day.

It boils down to this: If the last 2 games are indicative of how the team will play in the next 2 months then we are likely to go down. How can we gain points playing like that?

Vast improvement required in tactics, attitude and form (just improved passing would help) as well as key players back from injury.

Have the last two defeats knocked the stuffing out of the team? If so it's Roy who should put that right. Does he look like he can inspire his players?

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Agree. If Fulham carry on their points per game average from the first 23 games , they would finish on 30 points.
There is a tiny possibility that they could get out of it. It is even a smaller possibility that it would be us that was to take their place, as the teams below us and them would also have to overtake us.
I’d be more concerned about next year, as looking at a few of the recent games, getting to 29 points seems to have been a great result , so far.

Agree. We can’t keep giving teams a goal head start in the first 5 minutes. The last 2 have been shocking. But we’ve got 2 wins and 2 defeats in the last 4.

You seem to be forgetting or ignoring the Zaha factor. He played in the 2 wins but not in the two abject losing performances, and our record when he's absent is well documented and doesn't make pretty reading. That record has to change and change pronto if we are not get sucked into the fight for survival.
