I accept the style of football has been less than scintillating .

When I recall some of the invective which you've hurled at the team on various match threads, I have to smile. Is "less than scintillating" the same as "garbage" (to pick up one of your favourite words)?

In fits of pique with steam coming out of my ears after abject defeats I of course have self-combusted on occasions.
I have been outraged after losses for many a year, and self-combusting well before Mr Hodgson took up the reins - just ask my dear wife!

I just watched the Big Match from 1979 Palace 2 Man City 0.
After the game TV and MA spoke of what an exciting young team Palace were and how we played attacking football, we’re sitting 4th in the table and had only lost 5 games out of 56!
Oh those happy days when you knew what a Palace team were all about - attack minded manager who’s team played great football on the front foot and were on the cusp of a new era, just as we could be now if we appoint the right man.

I don’t think we’ll ever achieve a string of results to match that - but I’d settle for us playing some more exciting football.

Just to clarify for the younger fans Malcolm Allison was Man City’s manager at the time.

So now it is Sean Dyche. Shout out to Valerian Ismail who is tearing up shrubberies in the lower leagues.

So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet.

It's an April Fool, quote from the article:

The only way we could ever achieve what the big 6 do is to spend spend spend....when I read that Man City are preparing bids for Messi Haaland and 2 other 30million + players, Livarpool ready to buy 50 Million pound + players, Man Utd ready to buy anyone with a price tag of 30million+ what chance does little old CPFC have against that? Sooner these filthy rich teams form their own European league the better!

Whilst I agree with you sentiments, surely you'd miss the chance to give these big time charlies a bloody nose every now n then.

With no spectators, probably no corporate events and much reduced advertising one wonders how FFP will affect them as surely they must be racking up huge losses

You might want to remind yourself that this morphed into the "team of the eighties" - which people still use to mock us with. Short lived, relegated and followed by an awful (and much longer) low period in our history.

This is the classic careful-what-you-wish-for scenario.

All true Silvertop no argument - and all the megabucks required comments, of course, are also true.
But we can at least hope that building a talented team of peripheral players from the big boys, coupled with some talented youngsters (hopefully from our acadamy) and of course the right Manager - could bring some joy.

For me the starting point is the right manager for the next period - supplemented by the full support of the club.

Things will eventually improve but not for a while. We currently appear to be in an an extended holding pattern until covid passes and the fruits of the academy bring to trickle up.
