Looking at. the present make up of our squad, the age factor, now clearly a major problem going forward and having more and more a clear effect on our quality , I wonder why Howe , would want this job, come to that why anyone outside of the desperate.
Because of Roy’s age, it’s understandable the manager job is on the cards. But if the club can not do something big and wide in the player market, it is likely to be the job that ended any prospective managers career.

My preference is for Dyche however just a thought if Howe really has turned down Celtic.

We don't have much money but Celtic probably have even less I thought I saw once that the TV contract for all of Scottish football is less than the money the bottom PL club gets.

Doubtless sore after the defeat today, Sean Dyche has been having a moan about the lack of money he has to spend by comparison with Newcastle. He needn't expect much of a transfer kitty if he comes to Palace. I'd like to think he might get more out of the players and the Academy than the current incumbent.

Think Dyche more suited to our current needs and circumstances going forward.

I would agree, I think our board sees him as the ideal replacement ie. Can run PL side on practically no money.

The issue might be whether Dyche is only prepared to leave Burnley for a bigger club / job. Moving to us is really only a sideways step.

There is always of the issue of whether Burnley ate prepared to let him go, if he is still under contract and whether we are prepared to pay the money in compensation.

Paying the compo might save us a few quid on some transfer business, as imagine he would make some better use of our squad and be astute in purchasing new players. So might be good move in that respect.

I have long advocated that Dyche, although not what most fans will want from a playing style perspective, is a better fit for us than Howe.

A lot of the criticism of Howe has been his transfer dealings. However at the same time we criticise our club for choosing the transfer targets rather than the manager. In reality the idea of a manager choosing and getting who he wants is now long in the past, at best it's done by committee with the manager involved.

Howe also has the advantage of not costing anything, especially when funds are restricted due to Covid. If Howe does come it may make sense that he doesn't pick the transfer targets

My own opinion, is that it comes down to which manager wants to come to Palace, not who Palace want.
Money can ultimately get anyone, but Palace need someone who wants the job and can work with the Board and keep within the financial structure.

So what , if Palace are seen as a stepping stone to something better ? It means a Manager will do his best.
Start throwing money to get a Manager, and that could be seen as an indicator that the Manager took the job for not the best of reasons.

It comes down to The Board and what they want to achieve. Stay in Prem on a limited budget, for starters

This is our opportunity to make a statement of intent as a club and show some ambition.

Look at the way Leeds went and got Bielsa whilst they were in the Championship!

I’m really not overawed at the prospect of having Dyche or Howe and wouldn’t see this as progress. To fight Parish’s corner, if feel that whenever he’s made an appointment, he’s looked to take us onto the next level- Pulis, Pardew, Allardyce and Hodgson we all big names at the time of their appointments.

For me, the likes of Benitez cannot be sniffed at. A proven, successful manager that carries a lot of weight in the game. He’s free and keen to return to the Premier League.

Goodness knows who will be our Manager or who will be playing for us but it is sure going to be an exciting summer clear out 😱

I hope you are right but it’s more likely it will be a massive disappointment given what’s happened the last few seasons.
