You forgot to include the word "failed" as your post should have read "There are 2 failed managers on our books at the club"

Even our penny pinching chairman wouldn't be stupid enough to hand the reins to either of those two - surely

There's quite a few that would say we have three lol

According to some in the press today Parish has a short list of three for the CP head coach role, Howe,Dyce and Cooper, however no action will be taken until the summer to allow Roy to retire with dignity. They go on to say that if we are in a relegation fight that could change. Howe of course is the only one of three currently available of those three and I cannot see SP wanting to pay out any compensation to get Dyce or Cooper ?

A poor performance against Brighton and there's no chance Roy will get to leave with any dignity.

I was just contemplating a scenario whereby Steve Parish believes that something needs to be done as relegation is becoming a reality and turns to those internally on an 'Interim' basis as those who have perhaps been considered on a permanent basis simply would not entertain joining in the circumstances.
Pure speculation on my part.

Well if he did then it’s definitely games up. The reality being there is a mountain of failure out there for him to sift through.
The chairman , needs to to take note of the conditions ,under which the candidates failed in. And decide what was a failure, that has any bearing on the conditions he, the chairman can offer in the Premier league.
It would seem Parishes, needs to find someone who can not only keep us in the league, but take us to the top ten , playing entertaining football, most weeks. All on a budget suited only to survival. And then what, the top six ?. Good luck with that. Let’s face it if keeping Palace, in this league on the budget used in the last four years , is now thought to be failure by many the new candidates need to give it an awful lot of thought before coming on board.

It has happened elsewhere , but it would have to be seen as mindless panic, in this case.
We are in a bit of a difficult position right now, with not being able to get our best people on the pitch. That’s not new to us, it has happened in every season since we came into the Premier, we have been scatting on thin ice , with this problem every year.
Our only real way out of this is to get everyone fit , and back into winning three or four games , ugly or otherwise. And we don’t need a change of manager right now to get that done.

I think he will have some kind of plan in his head as his number one priority will be to protect himself and his and the Americans investment.

I doubt very much that he wants to make a temporary appointment but IMO his hand may be forced. Our inability to compete in some games has become alarmingly frequent as has the poor manner in which we are shipping goals. Historically it’s the teams that don’t concede goals that stay up and Fulham look much more resolute now and are picking up wins.

Parrish has probably got a preference. But the fact that Howe is free at the moment might be deciding factor.Would imagine parish would prefer to wait until end of season but he might not have much choice after the next two games.

Totally agree with this... I have no doubt that Parish would prefer to let Roy retire with dignity but lose our next 2 or even lose and draw our next 2 and all of a sudden we are only 4/5 points off of relegation and surely he will need to act..

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Just can't see RH being replaced before the end of the season. Especially with every (ok, recent) press conferences the press brings up how well we've done this season. On par with anything we have done, at this stage, in the prenmiership.

Wilf will come back, put gloss on a dangeriously deficient squad and the football world will once again extoll RH's virtues.

It would be churish not to recognize the job RH has done to keep us up on a shoestring budget. At the sametime we should also recognize that his tenure has failed to produce a team that can win without Zaha.

But then, maybe that's too harsh. The problem lies beyond our old fashion manager. In the last 7 season's our club's attitude has been to bring in short shelf life players on big wages that'll keep us up. Until, somewhat belatedly, this season that is. This kind of short-termism has left us with half a squad out of contract at the end of the season with little or no sell on value. There has been little planning beyond the immediate in the last 7 seasons.

All this firefighting is going to leave us burnt and demoted the day Zaha leaves.

I'm not sure about Howe or even if he would want to come however if he is the choice way wait until the end of the season. He is available now and it will give him time to look at the squad and decide where it needs strengthening.

I just don't see the point in Roy hanging on until the end of the season unless the new manager is unavailable until then.

If Roy said that this was his last season, I don’t see why him and A new manager couldnt do a ‘joint managerial job’ TIL the end of the season.
It’s a win/win (apart from 2 lots of wages), Roy would be leaving as a hero, putting the clubs best interests first and The new fella could see first hand what he’s got to work with and can be looking at who he fancies and who he doesn’t (strictly in a football manager, not homosexual way)

I would leave them where they are as to not disrupt the the status quo of their respective teams... freedman is the only option and I feel his time has gone.

I was not thinking of Mark Bright.
There are 2 erstwhile managers on our books at the club in messrs Freedman and Derry.Perhaps Paddy McCarthy also involved.

I would say Howe but I am not filled with confidence...

Pardew I would honestly bring back interim if anything....as bizarre as that may sound.

Redemption.
