Parker has made Fulham defensively sound, they play attractive football, but like Brighton they have struggled to turn draws into wins. I've seen most of their games recently and the fine margins have not gone their way. He's got a big future ahead of him I reckon as he is learning fast and has made changes that have brought results. I didn't mean Spurs should sign him tomorrow, but as a former player with an attachment to the club I'd be watching him if I was Levy. I think with a young manager it should be about signs they are learning, not just the results they have achieved.

You could of written the same about Howe a few years ago, even touted for Arsenal and England. They both knew better as Howe crashed and burned under the pressure, all our successful managers recently have never managed a team to relegation.

Most managers have a period where the pressure gets to them. Even the very top managers have shown that at times. To write off two managers in their early 40s seems a bit premature. I'm not saying I especially want either here as I'm not sure how they'd fit in, or that they're ready for a top job, but they both seem intelligent and to have a good understanding of the game. The PL is a ruthless league though, so if Howe gets another chance he will need to have some success or it may be some time before he gets another chance. I think Parker will stay on at Fulham even if they go down as he seems popular there and he is still learning his trade.

The analysis of Howes period at Burnley on this thread has been a bit harsh too. You could argue that he laid the foundation for Dyche to build upon. As for Rafa - a manager who moves around so much chasing the money is not conducive to a longer term strategy. Also played dour stuff at Newcastle - no doubting the toon fans loved him, but that’s because of his stance on Ashley - not for playing exciting football. By and large his style of play there was nearly as bad as the defensive dross we’ve endured this season.

Based on purely facts, I don’t want a failure at palace. I certainly don’t want a ‘broken man’ to come in. Suppose it is too soon for him, he leaves and we are in limbo. He has walked out on 2 clubs 8 years, both times when things got tough. We want winners at the club, someone to take us forward. Not chancers who play good football. Why don’t we aim higher, look at the teams doing well, Leicester prized Rogers from Celtic.

Edited by Willo (23 Mar 2021 11.19pm) Signings he couldn’t get a tune out of. Managers are not judged on the players they sign, they are judged on results. He finished 9th and 13th. He quit Burnley and signed for Bournemouth TWO later on 12th October. He quit Bournemouth at the end of the season after he failed at keeping them up. Bournemouth’s (like us), number one objective is to stay in the league. Did he not fail? Your are blinded by the facts. Regardless of his reasons, he has quit two clubs in 8 years. Fact! How can he not be a quitter in your view?
