I disagree and this is far too short sighted. It was the seven back to back defeats and one draw in our final eight games last season. It was also the shocking performances against Chelsea, The Weed & Wolves last October and the follow up performances against Burnley and Newcastle in November, the 7-0 thrashing at home to Liverpool and the 3-0 ‘no show’ against ten man Villa. To say what has shaken supporters is simply the last two games is blinkered beyond belief. With respect, I appreciate that the defeats you highlighted caused great disappointment and concern and of course attracted a fair degree of bile and opprobrium. I do feel however that the latest two unacceptable defeats coupled with Zaha being out for a while with a hamstring injury has really had supporters considering for the first time the possibility that the club could be dragged into a relegation dogfight. I am in contract with quite a few supporters and whilst they were excoriating about the defeats to A.Villa and Liverpool, I sense a greater general concern about our prospects this season after the losses to Leeds and Burnley.

'I disagree. They have the heart and gumption to make a stand and would certainly be fans in the Championship' Sorry, don't recall too much of their flag waving on a cold Tuesday night in the Championship in the Holloway play off season !!

In my view it is a blinkered and highly selective view to just refer to the two most recent defeats as being the cause of the unrest.

One of the questions asked to Hodgson during today’s press conference- ‘ How come you’ve managed to stay so competitive without Zaha?’

For myself I’m very calm, and don’t believe we’re in serious danger of relegation.

I have explained the reasoning apropos my comments. Yes but as people have pointed out, that doesn’t make them right and they are way too blinkered / short sighted.

I love this club but the notion that we have the best fans in the country is one of the most delusional suggestions to have cropped up in the years since we came up. There’s a reason we’ve got the nickname "Nigels" and the ultras epitomise it. They threw a big hissy fit and threatened to boycott games because they couldn’t get seats behind the goal and demanded lifelong season ticket holders move because.. meh.. they have a drum. Now they’re writing letters to the board whilst we’re 10 points off the relegation spots and 5 points off the top half. It seems to be a new phenomenon but our fans are beyond spoilt at the moment. I want to see Palace push on as much as anyone else. But the current period of consistently establishing our premier league status is vital in that. Roy Hodgson has done a very good job, whilst feeding off scraps & bringing through 2 academy players and has got on with all of it without any complaints or betrayal. He doesn’t deserve this bulls***. We are not even the best fans in the league, let alone the country.
We're the Arthur over ere! |

I stand by my comments and I believe I have batted away the accusations with the casual confidence of a top-order batsman.
