The truth is often difficult to swallow.

Luka, Bats, Benteke, Dann, Cahill , PVA are all no longer good enough for the Premier League.
That's not Roy's fault, but these players have to be replaced ASAP.
With the squad we have we are in a realistic place in the league.

This hits the nail on the head and to most of us this has been obvious for sometime now. However Parish has ignored the problem and now we are in difficult position, this could have be avoided if we had invested in the first team rather than bury our head in the sand!

Could this be connected to the 13 contracts ending with uncertainty over futures - some of whom may end their careers in a few months?

Tough to motivate such a player, especially where they may be effectively undroppable with current injuries.

You know what..
In the real world where people are paid to do a job to a standard expected of their role ,being near to the end of their career would not be accepted as an excuse for poor work performance.
There are many nurses and other care professionals who earn less in a year than these so called professionals earn in a week.Their standard of work doesnt drop when near retirement!!!
Ive been watching Palace 60 years and the last year or so has for me been atrocious with little determination, inspiration, motivation let alone perspiration from most of these employees of the club on the field of play.
One thing I would like SP as CEO do is reduce their salaries by 90 per cent and introduce payment by results which wont happen yet would be consider in other companies.
For me watching the dismal embarrassing stuff thats gone on since probably the departure of Bolasie is insulting.
Jimmy Mac,Ward, Ayew, Wilf and a couple of others work for the shirt,Not many deserve their wages imo.
Rant over!!!
Right on the ultras.

The atmosphere at Selhurst Park hasn’t been anything special for many years. You’re just doing the "Best fans ever in the history of the world" BS routine. You get over yourself and perhaps question where you really expect Roy to have the club at this stage.

Dear me,

You are totally irrational. Cold shower and a quick slam of the fingers in the door?

I look forwards to you creating as much atmosphere and doing as much as the HF’s do for our club...

... no I don’t think so either.

I expect the club and the team to be doing better. The team, tactics, attitude, style and passion are all a shambles. Roy should resign. He has done so, so, so well but the time is up old boy.

It’s painful and watching Palace is awful. They will not or cannot pass the ball. It’s appalling

Whatever your opinion of the headline ‘pandemic of apathy’ I can’t help but smile at the image of someone thinking ‘this is genius, that’ll show them’

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I know, but I'd take it a step further and venture to suggest that they're not best placed to accuse others of being stale (in so many words).

This is bulls***.

Why do people like to lie about these kind of things? The HF were there when we were s***, they're here now, they'll be here when we go down. To pretend otherwise is embarrassing.

They were definitely there when we were s***. But they’ve obviously evolved since then and they were nowhere near as c***y/embarrassing

We're the Arthur over ere!

Chelsea have a 36 year old centre back and are expected to challenge for the title so not that much of a great indicator.

It actually is. The player in question has for the majority of his career been one of the best in his position in the world. Further, he is not relied upon to play every game week in week out because there is no other option. He is also surrounded by a vastly talented, and more importantly youthful and plentiful squad of players.

Gary Cahill is nowhere near that level of quality and is depended upon almost every week, our squad is one of the oldest in the league, threadbare and riddled with injury.

It's not the same by any stretch.

My view, for what is is worth, and I am cerebrally challenged, is that the squad has its limitations and that another manager could not suddenly get them to perform with much greater aplomb.

I appreciate that this viewpoint does not resonate with many on HOL but the smorgasbord of opinions is all part of it's rich tapestry.

I am coming round to this. There might be an improvement, but it would be marginal at best.

People are entitled to dislike Roy and want him out. And they are by far the most vocal section of fans at the moment. I am merely pointing out that they are not representative of the entire fanbase. There are plenty of us out there who are grateful for the job he's done & the manner in which he's gone about his business.

Where I suggest that people are categorically wrong is where they make out that the club hasn't progressed under his leadership. That's just factually incorrect.

We have gone from a club who routinely survived by the skin of our teeth - spending millions in the process - to a club that is never really in any danger of relegation, without breaking the bank. That's progress.

We have gone from a club who hadn't brought through a single academy prospect since Wilf to a club that has given 3 academy players their Premier League debuts. 2 of which have established themselves as Premier League players. 1 of which is now a global star.

We have made progress, and a lot of that is down to Roy. Small progress, but progress nonetheless. We are on the brink of pushing to the next level. Sacking the guy who has established us as a semi-respectable Premier League outfit, midway through another season of almost guaranteed safety, because we have a couple of poor results, would be absurd.

Fortunately, Parish isn't a moron. So at the very least, I can take solace in the fact that it's not going to happen. I'm just disappointed in the fans and the way they've behaved to someone who has carried out a job for the club with dignity. And the drum w***ers turning up to the training ground fresh from Rymans (is that even open during lockdown?) with some shiny banners they made with glitter is just the tip of the iceberg. They can get f***ed. How anyone still gives them the time of day after what they did to season ticket holders in Block E is beyond me.
