No reason why every player shouldn't do their defensive work of course, but it might not get the best out of Eze and Zaha, plus they're pretty bad at it, especially Eze. Playing Townsend, Eze, and Zaha behind the striker in a fluid formation seems to be the ideal combo. Ayew would compliment the system nicely. Mateta or Benteke up front, wouldn't expect either to last 90mins for guys their size. Who ever it is, get them helping out with the defensive work a bit more. Teams need to defend with 11 men. We has a successful and robust system under Freedman, Pulis, Pardew, and BFS. Why did we change it?
