I think Matitties needs to be given a chance, far too many writing him off before seasons even started. He didn’t get a chance last season and I think it was more Steve telling Roy not too play his as per the rules of the loan having ab obligation to buy since he knew Roy would be off and didn’t know if the new manager would want him.

He will obviously be a bit rusty not having much game time last season but he does get in the right positions and soon enough he will start scoring goals.

We had this ‘give him a chance’ nonsense with Meyer. We don’t have the luxury of persevering with blokes who are clearly not up to it. You don’t need to see someone over half a season to know they are pants. A couple of training sessions should be more than sufficient to know if someone is going to cut it.

It’s not just Mateta’s first touch that lets him down. It’s his second, third and fourth touches too. Get rid and move on.
