Yes it looks as if safety is only a point or two away, and may already have been achieved. Similar to last season when I seem to remember the win against Brighton gave us a points total that would eventually not be superceded by any of the bottom three. Then there were still 10 or so games to play just as there are now.

I have to say I am glad there is a three week gap until the next game.I am finding it very hard watching us at the moment. Perhaps our players will come back refreshed and, with safety close to being assured, play with a little more freedom and adventure. And, hopefully, there will be no repeat of the tail end of last season.

Refreshed ? Hope so but last international break we suffered two poor results at Burnley and home to Newcastle.

Andros doing his media slot on TalkSport said he was immediately heading to his home gym after the show to work on his speed, helping him to get past the last man and deliver crosses. I almost swerved off the road with laughter. Bless him!

It’s not. It’s about enjoyment, pride and being part of the club. We’ve become a nothing team with no identity and are just making up the numbers.

My bet is that if Roy remains next season there will be a lot of empty seats at Selhurst Park. The life has been sucked out of us and we have nothing to offer without Zaha. We just hang in for dear life every game in the hope we might nick a goal, which amazingly we’ve been doing recently.

And here in lies why we're such a tin pot set of supporters, no better than Millwall or Charlton. Wembley trip 40k plus out the woodwork, drop in form and relegation off they all trot again.

Yes with all these comments regarding "Be careful what you wish for " If we continue with Roy and don't invest there will be empty seats. We are playing the worst football since the Peter Taylor days .Why would we want to stay in premiership with no visible signs of progress apart from Academy. I would go as far to say most fans hate our style of football and the way we approach games which such negativity. Not enjoyable to watch for sure. Will be interesting to see if we improve after the break knowing we are almost safe.

Of course you are as all club forums will have members that moan about this, that and the other in connection with their club

I'm intrigued by these posts confidently predicting swathes of empty seats if Roy stays. On what exactly is this opinion based? We've been sold out nearly every week since promotion quite regardless of the teams tactics, performances or results. I can't recall supporters ever staying away in protest before, and Christ knows there have been plenty of opportunities.

What I think is more likely is that regardless of whether Roy remains, supporters will queue up to fill the ground, having missed live football and the matchday routine terribly. Then, either the performances will improve (maybe because of a couple of new players, or even just because of a crowd being there) or we will continue to play poorly but vaguely effectively, but the frustrations of supporters, to the extent that they remain, will be voiced. That might or might not affect Roy's position, but that's a very different thing to swathes of empty seats.

I agree with the general thrust of these sentiments.

The empty seats would be visible if we were to drop into the Championship and Mr Hodgson has the knack of keeping us in the PL season-on-season.

Admittedly this is just me, however whenever we are on the box, it's on in the background while I do other things.

I no longer sit down and avidly watch matches. Yes I'll renew my season ticket but will I go to the match if the weather is particularly bad or push myself to go when I just just dont feel like it? After missing only a handful of home matches over several seasons, I'm no longer sure.

Its is this kind of dissociation which is the worry

Still, at least I'll be included when they tot up the matchday attendance figures!

There are a couple of issues here in my mind.

Firstly, on a general level, to what extent will crowds across the country return in the same numbers as before the lockdowns? I posed a similar question elsewhere where I wondered if the habit of attending football may have been broken for some people during this period. Some may decide the cost, and travel issues , of attending games is no longer worth it to them.

As for Palace, the rotten fayre that has been served up on the field for much of this season may also deter some from returning. But, I am only surmising. Certainly there are plenty of fans who, I am sure, can't wait to return. I have renewed my ST, but I know of three long standing season ticket holders who aren't renewing for 21/22.

You are right in saying that we have generally filled Selhurst Park since being in the PL irrespective of our performances, but, we haven't had a break like this before, nor has the football been so consistently poor.

I notice a lot of posters use this term. The Premiership is either the top league in Scottish football or the top league in English rugby. CPFC play in the Premier League.
