Memories. I used to buy all my 78s for many years from a little shop Addiscombe Music Stores near Bingham road.
Also spent many happy hours in Beanos in Surrey Street and then Middle Road?
I still have a massive collection of 78s 45s lps and although I very occasionally look through them, I listen to most of my music on my computer.

a tiny store, owned by Peter.
Under the now long gone bridge used to be an even smaler shirt shop with a kiosk selling sweets next to that.
I've a photo somewhere, I'll see if I can post it.

DanH mentioned the good good things about vinyl.
The album as the artist intended it to be listened to.
(the cunning way that one album was just 3 minutes too long to fit on one side of a 90 minute tape)

Browsing in record shops on a Friday afternoon. Mingling amongst other sweaty teenagers/20-somethings in their faded concert T-shirts and leather jackets.

Rock Box, Camberley was good for a time. Ken and his wife always seemed to have "something out the back you might like. I'll just be a minute"

I have a collection of vinyl records.
Not too long ago I played an album entitled "The big hits of 1967".
Perhaps it was last year when I paid a visit to a small establishment in Arundel which sells vinyls, the name of which escapes me at this moment in time.

Did anyone else ever go into Art Nash in Penge on the way to the Palace? A real music shop with a mix of Records, sheet music and Instruments.

Small record shops where you have no option but to brush against Rock/Goth chicks bottoms.
But be careful not to brush against the men who look like chicks

Yes just half a shop frontage with storage out the back. I didn't know the names of the owners but it was a family business and very knowledgeable on all types of music.
Happy memories.

I used to DJ through the mid to late 90's. Played for an old sound system. Used to shop in Eukatech records near covent gardens, also the exchange in notting hill (someone mentioned that ealier - was a goldmine).

I've probably got around 1000 pieces of vinyl, all techno. My decks are still set up (Technics 1200's), and my kids think I am a nutter with terrible taste in music ("there's no singing dad".... Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier, Adam Beyer, Robert Armani, Anything on Djax....

Thanks to this thread, today I’ve got some vinyl out to listen to whilst the weather outside is keeping me in - 3 terrific albums in my opinion with one being the best of the PF albums in my opinion :-)

Some one mentioned a Linn Sondek which along with a good tonearm and cartridge will produce music at a much higher level than £99.00 player that many people would use.

Vinyl is seriously good but you need to spend to obtain the finest results on top kit.

Very good quality is available on CD even with a low spend but in relative terms CD can be hard and sharper compared to a warmer sound from vinyl.

Modern-day afficionados of vinyl will certainly have a better experience than I did.

The pick-up on a turntable would actually pick up a signal from a redundant crystal Palace TV aerial mast.

It took years before they took it down.
