Was asked today about his link to the Crystal Palace job in his presser;

His response;

It is a sign of respect from outside of your work place,” he is quoted as telling reporters;

“I value that, whether it is fact or fiction it is still nice to be spoken about positively, or generally positively.

“But it has happened to me many times, it has happened to my players many times, which is a positive in a sense that there must be some value to what we do here.

“But I am still here and I have said that for many years over many different connections in all sorts of situations, but I am still here and I focus on what the next job in hand is and that is working hard with these players to make sure we continue our journey in the Premier League.

“I have made it clear that my first objective is to be in the Premier League, which it often is, so my focus is on that.”

I can see him being a front runner with the board/Parish. It’s just whether he has been promised funds by their new owners or if we are willing to pay the reported 7m compensation package with Burnley.

I think it will go this way, if not this year then next. It's a slow burner and there's a kind of a natural blend although I appreciate many would not be happy with such an appointment.
More pragmatic football for sure, but really where are the alternatives without the FBD type risk.
Think we paid some compo for Pardew, so some parting of money wouldn't be an issue. When you pay tens of millions for players why would you not part with probably much less than this to secure what you believe to be the right manager. Guess that's the crazy world of football.

I think he has to be the favourite. I've just looked at the odds and there are plenty of people wasting their money on bets! John Terry still has shorter odds I see.
In the circumstances he is the best candidate... he has plenty of experience of keeping a s*** team in the PL despite being given limited funds to play with.

Following Palace since 25 Feb 1978

Going back to the start of 2016-17 season (5 seasons), Burnley's 'Net Spend' is roughly the same as ours.

I really cannot see us paying the millions in compensation that would required.

Much like the Eddie Howe stories this will prove to be more pie in the sky. Greedman is more likely than this.
