the Guiness in Ireland was spot on everywhere, you can get it spot on here but it is much harder to find, I couldn't tell any noticeable difference between a good pint here and over there

Yes, it was brutal, the kid who knocked the house door after i went in saw my post here a few years ago and said it was him. Shame about your mate not coming again, same thing happened to me, Took a neighbour who supported us to a Brighton at home game, when they took about 50 coaches down, all lined up in whitehorse lane. My neighbour was a couple years younger than me, I was about 14, anyway, there was carnage in the whitehorse, surging and bedlam going on as palace were in there to, he saw it and started crying, i told him to pull himself together, but few people around told me to take him home, i did, nice kid , just wasn"t expecting to see mayhem at a football game, he never went again.

That was me, I was 10 at the time. I slipped over in Stanley park so didn't really get a kick in. Remember the scallies had soul belts on - a bit OMD. I made it to the away end but took a different route back to Scotland road where the coaches parked.

The chap who I was on the coach with, who got chased down Anfield road I think had his jacket slashed. Was quite relieved to see the train special turn up. I've met nice scousers and Liverpool fans later in life, I don't carry any grudges anymore it was just the way it was but maybe those who carry the scars aren't so forgiving.

You were the kid who knocked the door of the house I was in? Not sure it was you mate, maybe another time or another house, unless you were a big 10 year old with a skin head? Like I said, this lady let a utd supporter in the week before, top lady, maybe they all did it up there. To be fair to the mickey mousers they got a good shoeing in the return game or some time after at norwood junction, 100 palace at nj, 200 liverpool steam down road into them from clock, and equal number palace steam in from behind, so the scousers were caught in a sandwich and took a pasting, pardon the pun! I thought it was justice or karma, glad all thats gone as you get older and more sense. They ok now.

You'd be suprised how you can remember certain things. I only remembered going into the house after reading your post a few years back. I thought their were four coaches ; i was definitely in the away end as scousers gobbling at us from their side is something I remember.

I remember the window above the door had stained glassed panel. I think somebody told me to go into the house or knock on the door . I was a fan of the Specials so I probably did have a skinhead then but I wasn't big - but big enough to get a coach on my own to Liverpool

The guy I was on the coach with was about the same age as you and from what he told me in the away end- the Palace got chased and others were waiting for them at the end of the road ; he had his bomber jacket slashed and he thought he got off lightly and others had suffered worse

We still remember it 40 years ago. We were ambushed twice, the second was serious involving knives and we were lucky in we dodged it. Thankfully a local opened their door to us, that's how I see it now.

Yeah, best way to view it, local hero.
