Why would they want to cut out Sky, BT etc and the billions they pay them?

Says the person living in Costa Rica who possibly doesn’t have to pay ridiculously high fees to be able to watch games. It appears most of the world can watch PL football at a fraction of the price we in the U.K. have to pay

Yes I agree the costs of going to a game in the Premier League is ridiculous but to watch a game on TV is nothing, What I pay for Now TV works out at about £1 a game.

I think the fact that players are paid vulgar amounts of money each week is the problem, that's where most of the money ends up. It's all about hype in the PL which gets the crowds into the grounds. This season I've watched lots of other European leagues, even a few 2nd/3rd tier games and without the fans, the football played is very often indistinguishable and empty stadiums have been a real leveller. It's been a real eye opener to see what is effectively a massive marketing machine in the UK creating the hype that the PL is the 'best' league in the world. It isn't at all. Sure it's got lots of money but that's about it and I've realised that the money is just squeezed from people who continue to believe that hype.

Exactly. When football returns to “normal” if your team is not featured and you can’t get a ticket or afford one, why should you not take any opportunity to watch them if one is available?
