It is quite interesting to hear the Premier league complain about how this proposed super league would be unsporting, selfish, greedy and contrary to the fundamental principle that supporters of all teams have a chance to dream that they could one day be successful...

The Premier league! Saying all that! The f***ing cheek!

I haven’t watched European football for years. It does not interest me in the slightest as for many years the English clubs competing have so few English players. When I was growing up I would want the English teams to do well as they were predominantly formed of home nations and Irish players.
Ok you may argue that I am a hypocrite as Palace haven’t that many home nations players that start but we aren’t competing against teams from other leagues.
I have no interest in a European super league but I bet there are 14 other PL club owners s***ting themselves as this could be the tipping point that brings down the house of cards.

What a joke, let them go. They can play in their Mickey Mouse league with no history and no jeopardy. So boring!
Dreamed up by American owners, f*** off. Maybe they can call it something stupid like the European super league even though only teams from two euro nations and Britain are taking part.
Take your stupid ideas with you, the 39th game for example. It won’t be long till Man U are playing Juve in the ESL game at home in Dubai or the USA in front of thousands of loyal tourists!
I hope UEFA and FIFA and the EPL ban them from all competition, they need to realise they are not bigger than the game. I suspect this is all a way of getting their way with UEFA and project only the big six matter or whatever it’s called.
Call their bluff and wave goodbye.

How have Spurs sneaked into this? They haven’t been champions for 60 years and they won’t be winning this league either.

UEFA:

"The clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any other competition at domestic, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams."

As far as I can tell this potentially buggers the Premier League up however you look at it.

Either we kick the six of them out and the league is far weaker as a result which will inevitably lead to broadcasting revenues drying up.

Alternatively, we let them stay and they share a £3.5bn fortune which will create even more of an absurd financial divide than we already have.

In that latter scenario there is literally no point of clubs like us trying to do better as, even if Jeff Bezos buys us, we could never get into the Super League regardless.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Money grabbing of the highest order. Dock them points. If they love the idea so much to the detriment of the Premier League, then the favour should be swiftly returned.

I hope it happens. Let the rich billionaires fight it out. The rest of us can get back to competitive football, with reasonable transfers and wages. It might actually make the game more sustainable.

Of course it'll be a nightmare for a bit as the new version of the prem settles down and the big buck move off to the super league. Hmm no promotion or relegation, only 1 trophy - sounds a lot like the American pro leagues.

I personally will not watch or give a flying what these 'super' teams do. They can go take a flying....

Exactly right, it's anti fan nonsense. I hope trying to sneak this through comes back to haunt them.

A strong statement, and rightfully so.
