I agree that this would be great but it is currently not feasible If 51% went to fans then it would no longer be a viable proposition for billion owners, plus in the case of Liverpool valued at 1.5Billion where would fans find 750ish million?, Owners would pull out and go elsewhere Good you might say but that the leaves the prem without the clout to continue to be the best league in the world. Maybe it would help reset the Pyramid if it happened all in favour of that. Unfortunately money buys success from Jack Walker to The Glaziers

It just goes to show that the best way forwards for club ownership is the German model.
51% fan ownership and 49% ownership by whoever else. That's why they weren't even asked to join in with the ESL.

This prevents any participation in anything that is remotely distasteful/harmful/dishonest etc and above all being done in secret!

Therefore going forwards in this country we have to find a way of throwing out these parasite, rich, self interested, foreign owners and re-structuring club ownership to protect them.

Have our American owners had anything to say or are they unaware what is going on all around their investment in football? What it is to be a billionaire!!

makes you realise how spineless, insecure and unprincipled the likes of Levy, Kronke etc are in that they went along with it for fear of being left behind. These are supposed to be elite business leaders with decades of experience.

I'm only surprised that we haven't heard the John Fashnau defence from one of the clubs " I suspected something was up so went to all the meetings just to play along.."

It has been stated that we have the best league in the world watched by billions around the globe, the best managers, the best players, the best stadiums etc.
Some will argue that this is because of the rich foreign owners !!

Wrong. It’s because of Sky. And because of the money that Sky pumped in rich foreigners turned up to snap up cheap assets. Now th covid has screwed them all they were secretly looking at a financially viable way forward that they knew the footballing world would not like. Suddenly they could see the potential massive gain and their greed is insatiable. And guess who funded Sky in the first place? Us. The fans!!! . Funny old world

Is the correct answer.

I also don't agree with some pundits comments that fans wanted rich owners and this is the consequence.

Fans have no say in who owns their club and neither does it appear do the football authorities. Some owners are good others not so.

I suspect most genuine fans would prefer to have a more equal PL with every team having half a chance of success. Its never going to happen because the fans are not allowed a say.

Mine and by default Garry Neville’s view is de power the owners of clubs by regulation. The current foreign crew and Jo Lewis will then all sell up. Then cap wages and transfers properly at EUEFA level. We will then glide back to the happy days pre Sky when fans were real fans who properly supported their club. Nowadays as you all know it’s very different. Football has been modernised, absurdly financed, turned players into fitness machines, watered down all the rough and tumble and generally created woke ball. Football will then return to a more comfortable level where average clubs like ours is not paying ludicrous salaries to very average players. Where fans can then relate to players on the same level.
I remember regularly bumping into John Jackson our goalie at East Croydon station on the way home after the game.
Will this happen? Of course not. But it needs to be reined in for sure.

You are right. I’m sure most fans in light of this shock would prefer tighter regulation tat will inevitably eliminate international high finance. Guys like Parish. Real fans running clubs. Doubt it will happen though. Too much greed in the game. Way too much. Destroying it.

How could player wages be capped to make any real impact given that the top earners are on half-a-mil-a-week already? Would UEFA put a figure on it e.g. 600k? That's not going to make any different to the situation we're currently in and I can't imagine top earners taking a pay cut, as much as I'd like to see that happen.

I really don't know what the enforceable solution is - a better version of FFP that doesn't allow such ridiculous amounts of debt to be accrued by clubs?

Of course the rich owners were attracted to our league and they have ploughed millions into clubs which are parts of their investment portfolios.

And a lot more clarification as to what constitutes debt. Brighton have been “loaned “millions by Bloom and it doesn’t seem to matter
