I like him. I'd have him tomorrow. Sure, he didn't really succeed at Spurs...but lots at play there. Didn't have his star players for a chunk of it - and all other teams in and around there are really good. Better than anything else we could hope for. Thankfully, I think his ego will need to get back into management asap to prove he's still got it. And there's not a whole lot of options for him.

I’ve said it before, Mourinho coaches a very similar game to Hodgson in that he bases everything on defensive shape with fast counter attacking. The reason he gets moved on so often is because the big teams will put up with this style of play whilst the team is winning trophies, however as soon as the trophies dry up they just see the dull football with nothing to show for it and that is not enough at that level. IMO Jose is Roy but with more expensive players. The game has moved on and their style of play has been overtaken in the success stakes by a higher tempo pressing game. For this reason I don’t want him at Palace, as we would not progress and his tenure would be more about him than the team.

According to the meeja Jose was sacked by the board because the players fell out with him, nothing to do with the "Cynical six". So we don't actually know what his views on the ESL are. Bayern need a new manager and it sounds like several other high profile German clubs will be looking as well. I expect Jose will pop up somewhere in the manager merry go round though I doubt it will be Palace.

Kane was very public in supporting Mourinho, and it was very strange sacking him just before a cup final, especially when Spurs have won no trophies since the league cup in 07/08. Is it really that much of a leap to suggest it was to do with the announcement of the ESL? I imagine Mourinho would have no qualms about giving his real feelings on the matter and perhaps the club decided to silence him before he got the chance. If that is the case Levy will have paid him to keep quiet, so if Jose says nothing controversial about the ESL and Spurs then that will tell us everything.

Simon Jordan has suggested they sacked him before the final because if Tottenham win he’d have a claim for wrongful dismissal if they sacked him later on the grounds that he was brought in to win things and had won a trophy. Conte got money out of Chelsea on the same basis.
