Looking forward to the day that Roy does retire so it can be seen how difficult the job is. We have had a whole season without a settled back 4. In fact we have not had our best defence available all season!

Any new manager coming in will have the same problems. There is no magic fix that I can see.

Any new manager will certainly need to establish how/why we get so many injuries in training

Surely the board know that if Roy stays on next season and with fans back in the stadium it would more than likely turn ugly. I can only see it going that way if he’s in charge next season . Roy is too stubborn.

I’m unsure now if he’s stays or goes. Will be very interesting to see what way the club go. The next 5 games will be crucial on the decision imo. If the team down tools like last season and we end up below Brighton surely he doesn’t continue.

Those wishing for Roy to leave will get what they want. If he was to be offered a contract it would have happened by now, so that he could have a say in which out of contract players he wanted to keep, who in turn would have been offered new deals already.

If we just focus on the central defenders, we have 4 players in their 30's that we are asking to compete in a condensed season. Sakho and Tompkins have rarely managed to put a run of more than 4/5 consecutive games together .

With Dann and Cahill, I think it's ' battle fatigue '.

We need two new centre backs in the summer. I suspect Cahill and Tompkins or Dann, but not both, will be retained

Your right Monstermunch, but I am sure he will go though and I wouldn’t want to see him get dogs abuse. The players I feel will not down tools as they know they will be the first out the door to cut the wage bill down. Sakho can go now for all the use he has been. The next 3 to 5 games will be key as you mention.

The way we have performed this season is not Roy's fault. He has done his job - again.
The fault lies with Parrish. Poor deal with Americans who don't have the money or inclination to invest and a continual short term policy of "just stay up".
There is no money for a new manager to go and blow on new players. They will be set up to fail. Contrast with say West Ham, or even Leeds. You need to invest and Parrish doesn't have the money. We need a magician and if he any sense any new manager will negotiate a contract that says that if he gets sacked for poor results (which is very likely) he is entitled to a full payout.

For the money men it matters, football plays second fiddle to staying in the prem. Unfortunately our business model is second rate .. 90% of £ on wages.

Old team with little or no resale value ..12 players out of contract, of which realistically you would keep 4 of them. Roy’s game plan never changes regardless of who we play. Our only asset Wilf, wants away and who can blame him tbh, in a team that has all creativity coached out of it and zero positivity from management, that has ST holders wishing for the end of season and thanking the virus for not having to go to games to see the tripe that is dished up.

But yes can see Roy, Tekkers et al here next season .. which IMO will finally send us down.

If this wasn’t the premier league varnish it would look how it really is and how it used to look for clubs on their way out within xx months like it used to.

The only saviour for Parish every season is the jump between championship and prem level that 2-3 promoted or all 3 recently promoted teams just cannot stay up because they didn’t buy overpriced established prem players on wages higher than they’d get anywhere else.

a lot of people on here want Roy to leave , are these the same people who wanted Bat's at all cost ? Me I don't , didn't want either .
Yesterday on TV Chris Coleman seemed to know a lot about the Palace setup and everything around the club even down to knowing the academy players , positions , names etc . I was wondering if he is being set up to take charge next season ?

Players will be due back for pre season training in early July. I would me very surprised if Parish and Hodgson don't know the managerial plans for next season- they just haven't chosen to share the information.
The likelihood seems to be that Roy is going as there would be no reason not to announce it if he was staying.
It's not going to depend on the performances in the last few games.
From the club's standpoint there's not much to gain from making an announcement now other than to stop speculation.
There is also the possibility that the new manager is currently employed by another club which further complicates matters in terms of announcements.

I have wondered the same thing. He always says positive things about Palace and undoubtedly has a soft spot. Wouldn't have thought he'd be expensive to run either.

But, although he managed Fulham in the PL, that was a long time ago and his lack of recent experience/success at this level marks him down.

Not a goer, like him or not.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
