I think we’re going for Cooper.
There’s a structure at the club from Paddy Mcarthy through Shaun Derry to Freedman and even to a certain extent Mark Bright.
A bit of an ‘old boy’s club’ which some traditional control freak managers may not be comfortable with.
These individuals may all be doing a sound job, but it does mean there are a number of ex players who already have the chairman’s ear.
It seems to me the position we’re recruiting for is really a head coach which is why I think we’ll look for Cooper or similar.

I must admit I'm somewhat surprised/concerned. I had thought that Parish had known for some time that Roy was going and would have already sorted out his replacement and if so would be announcing the new manager today. As that hasn't happened I can only assume one of two things.
1. Parish wants someone who is still with another Club and the terms are currently being discussed/negotiated, with an announcement to come in due course.
2. Parish thought he had a deal with Lampard or Howe but they have either pulled out, or suddenly demanded a bigger transfer budget due to the Eze injury and Parish is trying to persuade the Americans to support this request.

Whatever the case, things are clearly unresolved and this is most worrying, as there is much to do and we need a new manager in place asap to start tackling the rebuilding process.

Let's hope for some positive news in the next few days.

Still think with the position we are in and financially we are suppose to be restricted ? Big Sam is the man. Will keep us up and we can rebuild slowly in process.A risk yes but so are other candidates

honestly... I would take that

I am shocked there does not appear to have been any shoutouts on here for Premier League stalwarts like Claudio Ranieri and Mark Hughes.
Surely either would be a cracking appointment.

Why would the Chairman be concerned with goodwill?

Not one of his KPI's I suspect

The only manager who will come to us, is one who knows the risks, but will want to gain good will, look at Brighton, finished 16th, weren't that good on paper, but gained plaudits for the set up... a manager will come in, want that respect.... and then move on.

The other clubs know our set up, it's no secret... any manager that comes in will be assessed on what he can do with this club in a year and if we go down playing better than what we have been, then that manager has done his job and will be off.

We have no money, the youth team is hardly ready to step in...

We need 75 mil over two years to fix this and be established.

If I were parish, I mean, I can see him starting next season with he books balanced and 17th the goal with an eye on being the best team in the EFL if we were to be relegated.

As painter said, the model of being a yoyo club isn't a bad one at all.

Parish could get a lot of good will for being honest and sharing this, and actually having a plan we see being carried out.

Neither Dyche, Cooper or Ishmael are likely to keep us up. Considering the Squad we have, injuries, and issues surrounding Zaha. It’s going to take a miracle. There is not a team in the EPL or among the promoted teams that is in worse shape. The reason I think Roy threw in the towel

Agree with this. There are huge question marks over almost every area of the playing squad except, perhaps, goalkeeper and left back. We look in a proper mess.

Left back!? Definitely need reinforcements there....we're essentially relying on a kid who's played a handful of decent games.
