I personal will find that disappointing and uninspiring if this how far we are aiming our longest rein in the Premiership and we are still looking like the Grace Brothers out of “ Are you being Served” behind the times, stuck in a past time frame.
When you look at other clubs the likes of Leicester , Wolves and the progress they have made in players they have signed, ground development and of course making themselves look attractive for outside investment there is a massive gap. Don’t get me wrong Steve Parish has done a fantastic job and we have spent a lot of money in transfers but surely we should be aiming higher than a manager that has no Premiership experience.
I have had my moans about Roy only because of the style of football we have played, agreed he has done a fantastic job making us a mid table club, but now is the time to up the ante, why can’t we aim higher attract a manager of higher class that will make us a better looking prospect than a club that looks like relegation material even before a ball is kicked.

Rant over, sorry folks

No need to apologise, comes with the territory when you support Palace

I think you also have to factor in that Roy Hodgson is I think still employed as our manager until the end of the month maybe slightly longer.
Therefore no announcement of a new manager will be made immediately anyway.

This is also my view

I read somewhere, possibly about SP interview with US radio, that he had lunch with Roy as a thank you. Roy has previously stated that he has had no input into new manager appointment but I wonder, if SP was asking for Roy’s opinion. Bearing in mind Roy is a Palace fan and obviously has a lot of affinity to club and players. Just a thought

Pulis, Hughes, Holloway, Warnock etc have premier league experience but I wouldn't want any of them. Ancelotti did a good job at Chelsea (but he had the players) but is struggling, though, to do anything notable at Everton and look at how much money Pellegrini wasted at West Ham despite having done a job at Citeh.

Nuno had no PL experience before Wolves, nor Pochettino before Southampton, but of course, these (plus Jose, Ancelotti, Conte etc.) are foreign managers and so they're automatically better in many people's eyes.

Cooper's appeal for me is:
1) firstly, that he's worked well with England's best young players,
2) secondly, he has been doing a good job at Swansea. 3) Thirdly, he's not had oodles of dosh for transfers
4) Fourthly, having coached the England U17s to a world cup win will be well placed to identify which of our Academy players should be prepared for stepping up to the first team squad.
5) Finally, he will see Palace as his big opportunity to show what he can do at PL level.

I tend to agree. Surely if it was an out of work manager or a manager from a team whose season is over something would have to have happened by now. This leads me to believe it will be Cooper. If we want consolidation I would go Dyche but if we want a new beginning with youth driving us forward then I have to agree with you Cooper has all the credentials COYP

But do we have enough Premier League quality youth to drive us forward?

I haven't any first hand experience of watching the Under 18s or 23s but from what I understand there may only be one or two that could be tried out to see if they are up to it

BBS poster ITK says it's Lampard to be announced June 1 after his contract with Chelsea has expired.

Well that doesn't make sense there is nothing stopping the club making an announcement now that Lampard will join June 1.

What would make sense is if Lampard has agreed the deal and is now taking a few week holiday knowing that when it is announced play time is over.

Anyway we will see.

I can see you have little knowledge of the complexities of employment contract law.

Ever since Dazza's first post, I also guessed that this could be the case. Chelsea always put in mitigation of loss clauses.

Unless the terms of his contract/severance package with Chelsea forbid him from finding work before that date, in which case all parties keeping quiet would make sense.

I've no idea whatsoever how these things work of course.

With the mess that so many players are out of contract, the average age of our squad, and not too much money for transfers - I feel Dyche is our safest bet for staying in PL.

I don't pretend to have any knowledge on contract law I get that Chelsea would say if you take another job we stop paying you but why would they prevent him looking for another job to start post contract.
