I'd argue That we have a lot more to do over the summer than Everton. and the longer we have no manager the more likely those out of contract (who we may want to keep) will find other clubs.

This on the BBC:

Everton are determined not to rush any appointment and while Nuno remains a strong contender after talks that started shortly after Ancelotti's departure for Real Madrid, the club are determined to cast their net wide before making a final choice.

Interesting that Everton are considered to be 'not rushing' and 'casting their net wide' etc, whereas listening to some on here we are all at sea, dithering and making a terrible hash of it.

Everton have got a bit more time on their hands - fairly decent squad, I imagine most of them in contract.
We need to build a squad and start signing up the pout of contract players that we want to stay.
That's why our situation appears more perilous - Everton can kind of manage themselves for a good few weeks.

In terms of the out of contract players surely if other clubs were in for them they can sign up to 6 months for a new club up to 6 months before end of contract?

Wouldnt be worried to much if they havnt gone already

There's a lot of enthusiasm on here for Lampard and I agree with it, as he strikes me as a good choice. However, it's quite possible that Parish has already spoken with Lampard, indeed it may have happened quite early on, and Lampard turned us down, in which case we either have to move on, or find a way to re-engage with Lampard.

I personally think a bit too much is made of Lampard bringing in the youth at Chelsea. Lets remember they had a transfer embargo imposed on them, playing options were limited and by playing them he had absolutely nothing to lose. Secondly was it really such a leap of faith bringing them in? The three main players that benefited, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Reece James had all a fair amount of first team experience on loan at other clubs where they had done well.

TA - Bristol C, Swansea & Villa
MM - Vitesse & Derby Co
RJ - Wigan

Putting them into a team which still had plenty of quality was low risk and unlikely to badly expose them.

I don't expect the progression of our youth players to the first team will be any better under Frank. It's all about finances and circumstances (look what happened when the embargo was lifted) as opposed to a manager being more open minded to bringing younger players through.

Relax, this is the Palace way. Who needs a striker, who needs a left back? Next season, who needs a manager and five subs? Not us, we're hard.

Fair points, but the flipside is that Everton aren't looking to tread water next year. They have serious ambitions on Champions League qualification and so need to get their business done every bit as much as we do. I'm sure Evertonians from the boardroom to the stands feel this a crucial period for them as much as we do for us.

It might be relevant that they have a DoF model, and whilst I am sure their new coach/manager will have some input, ultimately the buying and selling of players is a separate issue to the hiring of a new man in the dugout. If that works for them, why not for us?

Everton haven't rushed, and neither have Spurs, who have had longer than us to think about it, and are also at an absolutely crucial juncture what with Kane having finally got fed up and the club either regrouping to go back into the Champions League, or accepting that it's over and going back to being 6th or 7th every year.

I think we are just inclined to fret when it's our own club.

Given the form shown by Beneteke and PVA, plus Roys preference to stick with the starting XI come hell or high water, one could argue we've got this far without any of those things, so perhaps you're right!
