Haha, that's very bloody different mate.
"Do you get approached by multimillion pound companies asking you to work for them?" would be a more accurate question.

Thought I heard somewhere that Favre's agent approached Us...

Absolutely gutted by this news.

I am trying to arrange a lads holiday, part of which is an 'adrenaline' activity. One chap, while hesitant, was very much feck it, lets do it. I've now asked him to pay for it and commit, (so I can book), and he doesn't want to in case he arrives, and really doesn't want to do it!
He just needs some reassurance that he's not a big girl and that it's all safe and it'll be good fun!

It seems to me that Favre has the same commitment issues. Very common in all walks of life. I reckon his Agent has gotten him the interview, said to just sound it out and that he can always turn it down if he doesn't fancy it.

Hard to blame SP for either NES or this, the only thing he can be levelled at him is a 'grass is always greener' attitude. I'd imagine even SP must be wondering how this one got away from him.

Thing that I don't get is that apparently most parties come away impressed with the vision the club has. Is this just PaperTalk? a way to soften the blow? if It was that good a project, then they should be all over it, right?

I'm not a believer that the club is well run. Anyone who endures the matchday or ticketing experience knows that isn't the case. Or know, as I do, the haphazard approach to engaging with potential business opportunities. However, on this Do me a Favre (had to be done)...sorry but he's a wrong un.

I believe the accounts that he approached us, after all he isn't employed had we spotted him (right) then he'd have been tapped up as soon as Roy left.

He's clearly had second thoughts and fair enough. If he turns up elsewhere in the next month I will be buying a voodoo doll.

My understanding is that it was the other way around but if you're correct (and I'm not saying you're not) then his behaviour is far more worthy of contempt.

I'm not pretending to be ITK but I do have a mate who works at Palace and he told me that and a few other things during the course of the appointment process that have since come to light in the media. However even he says that unless you're Parish, Freedman or Moody, or happen to see a managerial candidate drinking in the pub around the corner from the Soho office, then no one knows 100% what's happening - it's just the rumours and hearsay that spreads around the office.

As things have panned out, Allardyce, wouldn’t be the worst option by far. The problem being there is every reason to believe that his real reason for walking away previously was the very reason we can’t attract a decent manager now.. it looks more and more as if it’s a case of people not fancying the base set up at the club, and with the present state of play regarding contracts , ownership issues, and the lack of player investment over a period. Who could blame them?
Dougie, hovers.

I have received a plethora of calls/texts since the news about Favre broke, being inquisitive and expressing an array of opinions apropos the way forward.

I am reminded of the adage "There's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip".

As others have said, its certainly a huge disappointment but better that the concerns come out now rather than a few weeks into the job. My personal instincts would now be to go the internal route with Freedman, Derry and McCarthy with perhaps Mark Bright becoming the Sporting Director. They all know the club/players extremely well, can clearly work well together/with Parish and understand the depth of the task.
The other alternatives don't look so attractive and have already been considered/rejected. The only wild card could be Silva and there are definite pluses with him although he never seems to last anywhere very long and seems loyal only to himself. If I recall, Palace were potentially interested in him before he went to Watford so there is some history there. Either way, the need to make an appointment is clearly now very urgent.

If he doesn't want to be our manager 5hen that's the end of it. At the end of the day if we get relegated Parish and the Yanks are going to take the financial hit. We'll get someone in, they may not be very inspiring, there was a collective groan when Roy walked through doors. But what I want more than ever is for someone to give that odious muck spreader Dazza a RED CARD.

Much as it pains me to say it and I hasten to say I don’t like the man, BFS is probably the right manager for next season. He understands the player market and generally buys well. I wouldn’t call it a progressive appointment, but maybe a prudent one.

We now appear to be in the situation of the bloke in a nightclub, who has gone along in a group with a couple of girls who are reasonable (Howe, Lampard) and he probably stands a decent chance with. However, he goes off in pursuit of the stunning girls (Nuno, Favre) and spends the night buying them drinks in the hope he can pull them.

They have listened to him and realised that whilst he was never that attractive, he's not rich either. They can wait for another night. A bloke with a Mercedes rather than one with a Ford will come along tomorrow night or the one after.

It's approaching the end of the night and we are becoming desperate. We are now faced with going back to the girls we came along with who know they ain't even first or second choice and will probably tell us to do one (unless they are equally desperate).

However, over in the corner is our ex (Freedman). We went out with her for quite awhile, most of the time she was fat, frumpy and boring. Towards the end of the relationship she lost weight and become sexy but within weeks of this she dumped us for a better offer.
She's not single, fat and frumpy again.

Really should have gone for one of the reasonable girls we came long with. They may not be perfect, but we are certainly not either.

We have clearly got some deep rooted problems at the club. Our board and management keeps so much secret it is hard to pinpoint it. But for years we have struggled with our transfer policies. Why does it always take so long to sign players. And always so late in the window. Look at how many players we have allegedly lost at the last minute. From the outside looking in, we have a total lack of interest from our majority owners. Our managing owner, SP, clearly struggles with recruitment. He appears a very insular person. We are right now in a dire position. No manager. Really queered our patch yet again trying to find one. Other than Roy, it has never been smooth. Pullis , BFS, FDB, now, Lampard,Nuno, Favre. I can’t believe all these people are the problem. There’s is something very wrong. All our older players out of contract. Lack of recruitment. Youngsters not being utilised despite spending fortunes on the academy. The future is not looking good this morning. What a mess. I hate to think what our odds must be for relegation. The main stand saga. Lack of funds. The on going covid restrictions. No real buyers to put us on a surer footing. Not good. Everything is uncertain. Zaha, Ezy injury. It just goes on and on. Even on a personal note, season tickets. Finally sorted mine after as usual the box office had completely messed up my credits etc. But even now there is no clear policy on restricted games etc. Remember the total muddle with the Ultras seating. Roy gone not looking so sensible now. What a bloody shambles. I am finding it hard to see any light today. Oh dear oh dear. God give us strength.

Good post and this is pretty much how I feel at the moment. We should all realise that the Premier league is both a pot of gold (if you have additional income other than gate and Sky money) and a poisoned chalice (if you don't) but we have to stay there to a keep afloat and b finally rebuild the main/old stand.
Sadly I don't think Roy will come back so for me it will be someone already at the club leaving either Dougie or Shaun.
There are hard times coming and some gnashing of teeth.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).
