Not 100% convinced about Nuno. A reasonable but not stunning career before Wolves. I accept if he was much better he'd be off our radar.
I'll stick with Dyche, with maybe Nuno second. No Howe or Cooper please.

Im in the same boat as you mate . Whoever takes over at Palace has got the most difficult job in the prem league . 14 players out of contract and expected to keep us in the league all on a shoestring budget. This is too important to the club and should not be left in the hands of a manager with no premeier league experience .

PL experience is so overrated. It’s a benefit in some circumstances for sure. But for clubs like ours all it does is significantly decrease the scope of our net.

If he wasn’t out of his depth at Swansea, why would he be out of his depth at Palace? Prior to joining Swansea he was linked with Crewe in League one. Swansea gave him his shot and by all accounts he did very well. We’re talking about a manager who lost £60m worth of players and achieved Swansea’s highest ever points tally in the Championship. He bettered Potter on both times of asking who benefitted from a squad fresh from the Premier League.

The vitriol thrown at Cooper is silly imo. My fear with him is that it’s too early for him. But we could do a hell of a lot worse and he certainly fits the profile of a project more than Nuno does.

Find myself agreeing with you again. I wo0uld add that I really don't get this 'must have PL experience' thing. There are a lot of failed managers out there with PL experience. I'd much prefer an up and coming younger manager who will relish the challenge of a project. Yes it's risky and perhaps the likes of Lampard and Howe recognize that and may be having second thoughts.

Cooper may not be the most photogenic man around but then we're not running a beauty contest. The question is whether this is too early in his senior career, but then like footballers themselves, if you're good enough you're experienced/old enough.

I would love for Nuno to be announced but unfortunately with Everton now in the picture I don’t see it happening (although I’m still praying for it) I feel as though we have been teased and it will be between Dyche, Cooper and Ishmael..

Personally I would want Ishmael first then Dyche, there’s something I’m unsure off about Cooper and although don’t judge a manager by one game that play off final was a wreck..

For the sake of the non gamblers (like me) what does that mean?

basically all the movement of the odds is in anticipation of the final plunge just after the manager has been chosen. If say Dyche goes in from 5-1 to 2-1 over the weekend, there's been no money put on him to shorten the odds, it's more likely he's having formal discussions so the odds shorten in case something conclusive comes out of the talks, e.g. he quits Burnley, or waives his compensation (unlikely, just and example). Once the manager is known bookies don't take any more bets and stop advertising prices - one or two lucky 'in the knowers' might get a few hundred on at evens just before the book is closed, but they don't offer odds on certainties. William Hills have closed their book on next Palace manager - they might re-open it. The 'exchanges' are not bookies, they're just individuals betting between each other and the best odds available are advertised. Usually the exchange odds are bigger - there's always someone out there who takes an opinion and will go bigger on something they don't fancy. It is significant when the exchange odds are shorter than the bookies odds, it means that word has got out not to take bets on a certain event or you'll get stung. The exchanges are not offering odds on any candidate - so nobody now is prepared to take any sizeable bets on who the next Palace manager is, because anyone prepared to put money on it is probably one of the aforementioned 'in the knowers' getting apparently short odds on a certainty. That's why I conclude something significant is happening as we write.

Just one example, without PL experience Howe took Bournemouth up and kept them there. With several seasons PL experience he got them relegated.
Still think it’s too soon for Cooper though.

I keep getting flashes on my phone from CPFC, and every time I think it will tell me who will be our next manager.

Instead it's about the documentary starting in a couple of days time. Driving me nuts.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

And i think it’s a valid question. But we all have to come to terms with the fact that we are Palace. We can’t just readily go out and hire Klopp. There are concerns associated with any prospective manager we’ll be linked with. But for the direction we actually want to head in, it seems to me the championship managers tick more of the boxes than the rest.

It would say that we're relaxed and confident about our approach to the hiring process, and confident that we'll have the right person in place. Although I was initially surprised that we weren't on the cusp of signing a new manager as soon as the season finished, it makes sense to see who the movers and shakers are because it broadens the talent pool. If we'd have been in a rush then we wouldn't have been able to have a meeting with Nuno Espirito Santo for example.

I agree. If there's one thing we now know for sure it's that the club didn't have someone formally lined up to replace Roy.
