He and the club do like to have what they see as their own hanging around, and Parish, openly said, whoever it is , has to fit in to the ethos of the club. Is it going to be an inside job? I hope not , just someone that knows what they are doing, and Parish should try to keep any promises he makes them to get them in the door .

I think a fundamental difference between the Freedman and Howe analogy is that Steve already knew, worked and had a relationship with Dougie. It's much easier to forgive a friend for a slight, especially if they regret it which Dougie seems to have done. No such established relationship between Steve and Howe so that `slight` will be much harder to overcome. I have a feeling that will play a big part in Steve not wanting Howe, it could fester at the back of his mind and in wobbly moments is far more likely to have a negative impact on their relationship.
