So we now seem to be resigned as fans to hoping that we can prize Ismail or Cooper away from two Championship clubs.

Fans clamoured for a change from the way Roy played the game. Now we are hoping to get a poorer version of Roy. Untested and inexperienced. While fans bemoaned Roy he knew what he was doing and got he best out of what he had. I think next season we are going to really see just how good Roy was, and not in a good way

Sadly, it's the usual storey, I suspect the stumbling block was once again lack of cash investment available for investment in new players and too many changes needed making this a very high risk of failure job which no decent proven or even up an up and coming manager would want to put at risk his future reputation!

Yes, we always end up being 'floored'.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Give Lampard the job, I honestly think his heart would be in it prove Chelsea wrong.

From what I gather, the Nuno collapse was his fault rather than the club’s… I don’t think we can blame Parish here.

for what reason?

it was nice to have a bit of excitement yesterday though, wasn't it? We all needed it to break up the desperation.

Whether you were Roy out or Roy in, Roy made that call himself so this was going to happen regardless. So it's not really got anything to do what what one section of the Palace fanbase wanted

I am bitterly disappointed by this breaking down - but I don’t doubt the decision to step back was done for all the right reasons.
Let’s face it - it’s so Palace!

It does mean that the search for the “right fit” goes on - but on balance there are others out there who I’m sure could do a decent job and fall within our budget and ethos.
Dyche, Howe, Wilder have all proven themselves to be really good managers at various levels and are still very much capable of further improvement imo.

There may be some sense in a inexperienced manager - but there has to be something that justifies that risk, I.e exciting football style, meteoric impact at a club, bringing on young players etc.
I get that with Lampard or to a lesser extent Ismael, but I don’t think Cooper has done anything along those lines that justifies a mention for our club. If we are going down that route why not Neil Critchley - he has certainly got something about him and is one for the future for sure.

Hopefully we’ll get it right in the end - but the anguish goes on!

Maybe Nuno will do an about turn? You just can’t rule anything out at this point!

He wanted more than we could give him. I think he's (Santo) playing for Everton or a club with more potential than Palace. SO he put he demands higher than Parish could afford!! I just hope we dont go for Cooper...
Parish is a supporter but also a businessman and he knows what lies ahead with transfers etc.If SAntos demands were too outrageous when Parish walked away.

This feels like the build up to the whole FDB appointment. Seemed to take absolutely ages and ended up being an unmitigated disaster.

For some reason it seems we can discount Nuno, Howe, Dyche and Lampard which seems to leave us with Cooper or Ismael. Neither of which fill me with much hope. When Roy announced his retirement I thought Parish would have learned his lesson and had somebody lined up as a replacement within a week. Now looks like we'll be lucky to get anyone before the end of the month.

If it's going to be Cooper, get it over and done with, before we annoy him with dithering.

Oh and not Freedman. Don't look back with rose tinted glasses at what he achieved over a third of a season, the best part of a decade ago. He's proven to be a very poor championship manager, let alone one in the Premier League.

Apparently Dominic Fifield has written an article for the Athletic - don't ask me where to find it though!
Nuno and Mendes changed the rules by the sounds of things with the Everton possibility maybe being the issue.
It sounds like we dodged a bullet and it was in fact they who approached Palace some weeks ago!
