Those of you who cite to the fact that Swansea fans are unhappy with Cooper should take heed that Swansea fans are not a homogenous entity, many have paid tribute to the job he's done & football fans are hysterically fickle. I mean, did anyone see the way Roy was often depicted by fans on this board?

Cooper is a highly rated young British coach who has gained a lot of admirers in the game, especially in this country. In reality, getting that Swansea team to 4th & a play-off final last season was a heck of an achievement. Especially when you consider that he hadn't only been losing his best players since the day he joined - he also no longer had the likes of Conor Gallagher & Rhian Brewster as loanees.

People also often reference the football, but up until about Christmas of last year, most Swansea fans were satisfied in that regard. As daft as it may sound, the fact that it has dropped off since then, whilst the results were maintained, may actually be a better sign than people first assume. Whether Palace fans like it or not - even if we are to progress the football - we absolutely do still need a manager who is able to grind out results when necessary. Nuno did it during difficult periods of last season with Wolves & I'd go as far as suggesting every club in the Premier League needs a manager who is able to do it, but it's particularly vital at a club like ours.

Would rather Chris Powell - Southgate's England assistant, than Steve Cooper

Their are loads of coaches equal to Steve Cooper who are not currently employed. I don't see the point of paying 5m compensation for him. Anybody can talk up anybody and really this guy isn't all that special unless I'm missing something. People who have a job we don't need to entertain. End of

You are missing quite a bit when it comes to Steve Cooper and putting "end of" doesn't make him a bad appointment. He fits the profile of what we are after far more than just going after a big name. He has his drawbacks but anyone we are likely to go for has their drawbacks.

We've been in the Championship, it's sad to see so many of our fans now turn their noses up at it. It's an extremely competitive league & of course anyone can do well for a season there and get relegated at the first time of asking in the Premier League. But he's had two very successful seasons in the Championship & he's worked at a club who sold nearly all of their top players. His achievements shouldn't be understated.

I'm not turning my nose up at lower level managers, far from it. I'd rather Chris Powell than him. He is local and is respected in the England set up

Why pay 5m compensation for somebody whose record is not particularly better than anybody elses?

I and a lot of others don't see it.

Who is this anybody else? Because if you're referencing Lampard, Coopers record is far superior in the Championship and with a hell of a lot less money. Coopers biggest drawback is how early he is in his career and, as you mention, the compensation. But I suspect the compensation with Cooper could be offset by the wages of him and any playing staff he wants to bring. Also, every candidate has drawbacks, such is the nature of hiring a manager when you're not Liverpool or City. That was demonstrated pretty emphatically with Nuno this morning.

Have had a lovely day out in the Peak District with the family well away from all this gloom.

Not surprised the Nuno option has collapsed nor am I disappointed. Too much baggage and too big a circus. Let Everton waste tens of millions on them all.

I'll say what I've said before, namely, I want someone who wants to tackle the project that we have become and who wants to prove themselves at PL level. For me that has to be a good Championship manager and so Ismael or Cooper for me. They are both on an upward curve in their careers.

Not a particular fan of Cooper, but he achieved more at Swansea than Potter did. Potter had no Premier experience, but is now lauded as a good manager with the style Brighton play.
Who are all these coaches equal to Cooper, that are not currently employed. I would suggest you cant name any and they are unemployed for a reason.

We need to sort this out sooner rather than later

If we can't get Eddie Howe then I would give DF and SD a chance, If things look bad by Christmas then replace them with Big Sam

I'm also repeating myself, but I agree.
