It wouldn't surprise me if Lampard has turned the job down due to lack of a transfer budget.

If we have no funds and we can't prise Dyche away from Burnley then maybe we should be looking at a Championship manager because that's the player pool we will be looking to dip into?

If the reports about Lampard are true then it could be that the injury to Eze has helped make his mind up and he isn't prepared to stake his reputation on the job.

Also, if he's only just woken up to the fact that we could face a relegation battle next season he probably isn't the best person for the job anyway.

As others pointed out, The Times reported Friday last week he was no longer being considered and they got the story regarding Roy's departure being announced right.

On the presumption that Lampard was approached, it sorts the wheat from the chaff. We need to approach someone who can work within a certain (meagre) budget and who has a reputation with bringing on youth players, because quite clearly that is where our future lies.

Looks that way. In fact the way things are heading we could be starting the u23 team next season

I misread his point about De Boer and thought he was saying Lampard had a better CV so have deleted that bit. However, I agree with you.

De Boer simply isn't a particularly good manager on the most recent evidence and it's little to do with his lack of experience.

I'd even chuck in Potter as another example. Most of his experience came abroad and then had a season or two in the Championship, a similar path to Ismael. At some point you have to give these guys a chance right?

I agree, perhaps we should take a punt on Cooper or Ismael. Cooper certainly good with younger player. At least only 1 of the can get promoted

Transfer Tavern is one of the worst clickbait pimps out there as they write a rubbish article and then try and back it up with a few Twitter quotes that they think gives merit to their story

That's a given, ME, clearly. There are no stories with merit out there except what other people have been quoted as saying merely as a pundits.

What's your view on Terzic or an overseas up and coming manager?

Some chap on here who clearly does not like the cut of my jib has accused me of "Backtracking" on previous comments.

My riposte was as follows :

"With respect, I am under the opinion that the comments which you have attributed to me were made some time ago, probably back in March!"

When I witnessed the diatribe and barbs my initial reaction was the nickname of Northampton Town FC.
Anyway, these contretemps only serve to veer the thread off-course so having responded I will refrain from any further responses and will ignore any further accusations.
I will pass comment when a new manager is appointed.

Aren't we potentially headed back to Warnocks or Holloways if we choose that route? There's no guarantee that a manager with a progressive style of football can get his system to work for Palace. It just may not translate from Championship to Prem.

Potter seems like a high risk, but on that basis so our untried Europeans without PL knowledge.

We are evidently back in for Eddie Howe as the Celtic deal has not been confirmed. Lampard to Celtic is a strong possibility as his mate Gerrard has done such an amazing job at Rangers.

Let's keep the ball this season!

FFS Willo. Give it a rest. You are getting worse as you are now responding to no-one in your attempt at attention seeking.

How many more times are you going to say that you are going to refrain from further comments? Why not just refrain instead of continually threatening to do so

No big budget , and according to Parish, it must be someone that fits like a glove, knows and accepts how the club works. That sounds like another with some former links to the club ..
Is Dougie, going to slip in here.? Chris Coleman?
