I don’t see anyone offering more than £30m in the current climate. Didn’t Wilf catch the covid? Whatever it is he is off form. But I would bet he will get his mojo back. If he stays he will still have plenty to offer for a few years and if he goes, he goes.

Real question is why did we play him in this game? I suspect he would have been taken off had we scored another earlier.

Given how he lets Ward-Prowse get under his skin so easily, it might be a good idea to bench Wilf for the Saints game - indeed, rest him for the remainder of the season (apart from a cameo v Arsenal so the fans can show him their appreciation in case he does leave). One thing seems clear, for one reason or another he doesn’t feel happy on the pitch at the moment. He’s never been one to hide his emotions on the pitch but his frustrations are very evident and theatrical. Frustration with his team mates a lot of the time as well. I’m Wilfs biggest fan I just don’t see Wilf as a happy bunny here. However this is set with a backdrop of a decent goal return this year. He certainly appears to have lost his pace at the moment, not appearing to have the ability or inclination to breeze past and players with a trick or drop of the shoulder. We rarely see that now. I wonder if he is still carrying an injury or has the realisation that the ship has sailed on his desired big move. He may still get that move in the summer but I can’t see where he will go. Unfortunately I’m not sure if we’ll get anywhere near the sums of money that’s been bandied about in previous seasons. Not sure he’s even our biggest asset (sale value wise) any longer.

it would be nice to see Hamman, Rich-Baghuelou and Rak-Sakyi get a bit of game time before the end of the season

Leave the man alone! I agree with you Dolphin. He has been a terrific asset but he now looks like he wants to be anywhere but on the pitch with his team mates. I used to love watching him play, but not any more. As others have said, his value to us has dropped, both on the pitch and for sale. His temperament, even under a new manager won't change. If we get a decent offer and he decides to go we shouldn't put up a struggle. Let him go and use the money to refresh the team elsewhere.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

still our best player over the season. 10 goals and plays a vital part. i wouldnt sell him for £50m, he is under contract still for another 2 years. if he was at his very best over 38 games he wouldnt be with us, he isnt perfect, but hes our non-perfect star player. he is irreplaceable.

Tom, the fact he has been 1st choice for the majority of our time in the PL, and played more games than anybody else, in which we have more or less finished mid-table every season suggests that maybe he is actually good enough to be a PL footballer. solid, dependable, professional, committed, no frills full back.
