He got zero minutes in the next 4 matches. Surely for a team that is already saved, Hodgson could have just sent him in. With the Euro squads coming up and Bats still hopeful of earnjng a place (he is Belgium's second goalscorer in qualifiers),at least some humane help could have been done.

For me, he is a better striker than Benteke. Some will say he cannot hold the line as a cebter forward, doesn't have the physique and maybe they are right. He scored 2 and assisted 2 in 800 minutes of gametime this season.

Maybe if he had been used more, we'd have more goals. Benteke scored more, but he has a similar goals to minutes ratio.

Course, Batshuayi won't be here next season and maybe Hodgson is preparing the squad for that. But many from the first 11 against Sheffield won't be here bext season.

The problem that I see with Bats is that he would work better with RLC in the side which would mean dropping Eze Benteke is not the answer either but I see himas the preferred one with Mateta as an option.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

both Bats and Mateta will get game time in the next 4 games . The problem with Bats is that he does not help the rest of the team when we are ( which we do a lot of ] defending

He had his opportunities with a run early in the season and showed he wasn't able to keep onside, nor was he any use when we didn't have the ball. It is a fact that we win games when we have less than 50 % possession and until yesterday (when we shared possession 50/50) we lost all 7(?) games when we had more than 50% possession. We are a team that plays on the counter-attack and that requires all our players to do their defensive pressing duties when the opposition have the ball. Batshuayi is far too lazy for that and needs quality players around him to perform.

I'd play Mateta ahead of him if Hodgson decides to rest Benteke.
