Which one of these is favourite to go down? Course, there will also be a struggle with the 3 newly promoted teans, but these 4 don't look good.

Palace- has some quality in Zaha (but if he leaves), the youngster Eze, some work commitment in Ayew. Who will be main center forward goalscorer next season? Unsure Benteke, Batshuayi or Mateta will be at the club.

Newcastle- ASM has done great this season, they also have Willock from Arsenal who will probably stay and ensure goals from midfield.

S'hampton- they relied last season a lot on Danny Ings. This season Che Adams has stepped up, but they lack depth for a whole season.

Burnley- an aging squad with a very good defence and goalkeeper, but they have a harder time by the year as they get older. They hardly make transfers or change their squad.

Can't see Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Leicester, Spurs, Arsenal, Everton, West Ham, Leeds, Aston Villa, Brighton or Wolverhampton having any problems with relegation, especially with the players they have now and if they don't sell.

Not looking good, guys

Good to see you again Matteo but I think there will be a rejig of the squad in the summer. I think that Mateta will sign and Benteke on lower wages too, hopefully the half dozen or so that haven't re-signed will leave space in the wages for improvements. Some of the youngsters will be tested in the pre-season friendlies too.
Why not Brighton especially with other clubs sniffing around Potter. I think that Newcastle will be there or therabouts and as you say the promoted 3 also, we will be safe again but just.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

We'll stay up next season with or without Roy.

Burnley look the most vulnerable to me, especially if they lose Dyche.

Hope Watford go straight back down. Can't stand them.

And Bournemouth....if they win the play offs.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Nice to see you too.

From what Inknow, Mateta doesn't need to sign, he is on loan until 2022. But with the gametime he is getting, I can see hkm wanting to cancel the loan early.

It's almost unheard of for all three promoted teams to stay up (think it's happened twice, maybe three times?) so you'd hope we are only dodging two relegation slots maximum.

In recent years the likes of wolves, villa and Leeds have come up, but this year there is no such giant returning. Neither Norwich or Watford are especially big or financially strong clubs, and none of the play off teams are either.

For all the bizarre levels of admiration they get, Southampton are a relegation waiting to happen. They sell anyone who is any good and stopped investing years ago. Newcastle are always a shambles internally and the return of fans will highlight the divisions between owner, fans and manager. Burnleys new owner has leveraged them up with debt and will not be taking them to the next level economically therefore. If Dyche leaves the whole house of cards collapses.

We do need to regenerate our team, but not to the great extent some of us are yearning for. Add three good players to what we've got, approach the job in much the same way as we have every year under Roy and three worse teams will gallop to the front of the queue and identify themselves. That's not the problem. The problem is whether we can accept another year of the same, followed by another and another.

So if he signs for us it's a win win, keep us up and they go down?

Agree with this BTP. It's 3 times all 3 promoted teams have stayed up, so as you say, at least 1 of the new boys is likely to go straight back down.

However, IMO it's far too early to talk in terms of which of the surviving 17 PL teams will be at risk. Let's see what the summer brings.

With all due respect this thread is a waste of time.
How can anyone make judgment or even guess what's going to happen?
We dont yet know who the third promoted team will be, we don't know what managers will be where, we know no squad details and thats just for starters.

Yes he has another season on loan. Apparently he was made aware that he would not get much gametime this season ( although I feel he should have had more)

I agree about Brighton. They could lose their best player (imo) Bissouma, Potter may leave and teams will now know how to play against them.
With my biased hat on, they have also had a certain amount of luck with whom their opponents have had available ie No Kane for Spurs, no Phillips or Raphina for Leeds, today no Traore and Wolves trying out some youngsters

We will be favourites to go down next year. Majority of our current squad are past their best. If we replace enough to make a difference we are unlikely to afford the quality and will have new players to bed in, and brought in after the season has started.

Seems to me that over the last 4 years other teams in our group are getting stronger by comparison.

Add a new manager to the mix....

We were expected to go down this year by a number of pundits.

No idea how you or the pundits you refer to come to that conclusion when we don’t even know who our Manager will be next season let alone the make up of our squad..!!

What is more telling for me is that potentially the 3 that got relegated last season, could be the 3 to be promoted - with 2 of them already promoted in Norwich and Watford.

I’d then probably make Bournemouth favorites to come up from the play offs - which would see all 3 relegated sides from last season promoted at first attempt - has that ever happened before?

IMO it tells you all you need to know about the gulf in difference, class and standard between the Championship and Premiership.

Look at this year - both Fulham and WBA promoted last season going straight back down.

There’s no hiding place in the Prem - and any promoted side is going to find it tough - so to my mind all of the promoted sides have to start of favorites to go straight back down.

Look at this way - if the 3 that look like being relegated from the Prem, OK Sheff U already gone but then add WBA and Fulham.

Then put them in a mini league with the 3 about to be promoted from the Championship with the top 3 being promoted/staying up - who do you think would come out on top?

IMO both WBA and Fulham would be in the top 2 and Sheff U as poor as they have been this season would still give the others a real run for their money.

What this tells you is as I have said the difference and gulf in class between the Championship and Prem is massive and only growing year on year - as proved by the 3 relegated clubs from last season potentially coming straight back up..!!
