Chelsea gave him a five year deal on big bucks not long ago, so even as a loan player he is very expensive, presuming the borrowing club pays most or all of his wages. Clubs like Chelsea give nothing away. They only lent us Batshuyi once he had agreed to sign a one-year contract extension, as they wanted to preserve his value, even though he is plainly of no use to them. He was an England player but it's standard practice for Chelsea to get players to sign fresh contracts before loaning them out as they did the same for Patrick Bamford and Loic Remy before loaning them to us

As ever, it's the regulations that need updating to reflect the times.

A loan player on so much wages from Chelsea wouldn't have a lot of fight in him for a battle, I imagine. I'd still have him at Palace though, got a bit more presence and muscle than some of out CAM options Edited by madcap_v2 (12 May 2021 9.51am)

I often watch the youtube video of the 5-0 win over Leicester. Loftus-Cheek was the final piece of the jigsaw, sadly we couldn't get him from Chelsea.

I thought that the regulations were changing to stop rich clubs from stockpiling all of the young talent by limiting the number of players that a club can have out on loan but it seems to have gone quiet on that front

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

If we are to look over at Craven Cottage, would rather have that central defender (Andersen), winger Lookman and maybe the manager (Scott Parker).

He had an ineffective game and seemed more interested in making sure his hair looked good for the cameras. The romance was doomed.

He was recently on The Peter Crouch Podcast and admitted as much - thought he wouldn't have to do much having been free-scoring in the Championship. He was humble enough to admit he should have done better - but he was very young at the time - 21 or something?

I'd have him in a heartbeat as he is very different to the CMs we have and could give us a different option wide left or right. I don't think this will be a season to remember for him, I think he has been injured and it's clear he was short of the confidence he had when he was pushing for an England place. I remember the player we had, and I think he would frighten teams with his power in the 3 of a 4-2-3-1, and have the engine to do others running in a 4-5-1 and capable of making runs too. He would also be something different off the bench. Lewisham lad, and the training ground is as close to Lewisham as any in the country. I'd be looking forward to the new season with him in the squad. I'll even pay for an Uber Executive to get him in negotiations with Parish Chelsea's hoarding issue is another topic of conversation.
