So much over-reaction on this site. Today we fell short in only two areas: scoring goals and preventing goals.

You have to look at the manner we lost pal. Thats the part we can control. We cant decide who other teams are going to field and use that as a survival strategy

Where we are has less to do with what we did, but more to do with what other teams did to themselves or to the other teams they played when they were not playing us. then throw in luck

Totally nonsensical, other teams give you nothing. You seem to resent the fact, we have been mid table all season on merit.

I fell asleep sadly so didn't see the whole thing.
From what I did see - great start, dreadful penalty, should have scored more given our chances, Ward is not a Premier League defender and sadly nor is Dann any longer and Luka and Reidewald aren't up to it either and don't get me started on Ayew.
Southampton had only won 4 in 17 before last night and with no pressure on us we underperfomed.
The season cannot end soon enough for me.
I don't blame Roy for the lack of pace in the likes of Ward and Dann but as Manager he should ensure that Ward doesn't allow himself to ball watch 20 yards away from his winger - and so on.
All change please asap

We lost that game because we were bullied in midfield. We needed a hard man in there to compete. The ref let them away with it and gave them license to get stuck in. Ward-Prowse is a niggly little sh*t who kicks and pushes and winds players up. He gets away with it because the big boys in the team protect him when players react like Kouyate did.

He needed put in his place first 5 minutes. Failing that I think Kouyate should have flattened him in the last five minutes. It would have been worth a red card.

So Clinton knows Roy is leaving and we’re bringing in kids. I guess that means Frankie boy is the next manager.

Ward-Prouse is 3 times the player of Jairo. Losing James McCarthur this season was a major blow for us.

Indeed. Two key areas of the sport I would suggest.

I thought we were okay in parts last night. We looked okay going forward but we are so shaky defensively. The back 4 were so narrow at times especially on Joel’s side. Blaming Wardy is a bit ridiculous tho he did stop it being 4. We were probably aware that he would be done for pace but we could deal with crosses due to our height in the middle.
Their goals were from mistakes, Wardy should have stoped the cross and Dann was on his heels and turned to easily, the corner was shocking and Dann out paced for the 3rrd. Scott has been great but has no pace.
I think we need 2 centre backs and a decent young centre mid and a right back minimum in the summer.
Had Milo scored the pen and Tekkers had a yard more pace.... all ifs but I don’t think we are a million miles away.

I have long held the view that Ward might actually be a useful central defender in lower divisions.

Will Ward be here in two seasons time?

Southampton were more aggressive and seemed more desperate for a win. How Ward-Prowse didn't get booked is beyond me as he kicked Zaha early doors and then made the mistake of doing the same to Kouyate - and then pi$$ed his pants when Cheikh reacted. The game means nothing and yet he still acted like a little pr!ck.

Ayew and Wilf offered little defensive support and so our defence looked exposed and they could have scored more. Having said that, going forward we looked ok and could also easily have had one or two more on another day. When Luka stepped up to take the penalty he looked like he was ill and I knew he'd miss. By the time Bats and Mateta came on the players were flagging and we looked disjointed.

I'm not really going to look too much into the this defeat any more than I would if we'd won. I'm glad Roy has decided to take the shackles off, even if we do end up losing all of our final games, but clearly his tactics are down to the fact this games now mean very little. Also, I actually thought the players looked enthused for most of the game even if it wasn't the best performance.

Don’t disagree he’s a player but he’s still an irritating little sh*t. Clearly not a skill they teach in Dutch football. We’ve no replacement for Jimmy Mac unfortunately but we need to find one for next season.
