I thought the whole point of being vegan or vegetarian is that eating meat products is considered off limits.

Why do they want to eat pretend burgers and sausages or steak or anything else that meat lovers enjoy? There are vegan sausage rolls and even vegan pork pies. Why? I saw a recipe for shepherdess pie the other day. Shepherds pie without the meat. Made with quorn I think. The stuff that's basically fermented fungus.

Sorry, but I guess I just don't get these eating fads. I enjoyed my roast beef yesterday and will always love a good steak. Ain't nothing gonna change my mind.

Just curious that's all.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Hiya,

Yep, that's me.

Remember for a lot of us vegetarians, we didn't suddenly stop enjoying meat. I love a good steak too. I absolutely love it. Chicken, bacon, burgers...you name it. But our moral views or environmental beliefs simply outweigh the love of meat. So for us to have meat-like alternatives is amazing. It's a game-changer and means we can actually turn up to a BBQ expecting more than just a garden salad. Quorn is a god send.

Cheers

I know that for some that they can like the taste of meat but their stomachs and systems find it harder to process easily.

I have a veggie friend and she is an excellent cook she doesn't do these pseudo meat dishes for her family.

There are plenty of non meat recipes Italian especially, I even cook some myself.

OK sprites, I understand what you're saying. But are you unusual in the vegetarian world? I have a friend who has not eaten meat for as long as I remember and for the reasons you give. He and is wife won't go near anything that is remotely meat. Won't even cook it for guests.

My granddaughter was given quorn at school and it made her violently ill for days.

Anyway, there you are, each to his own. Or her own. Or it's own. Oh, I give up.

and there's Indian veggie curries - I prefer a good nut roast to a meat roast, veggie food can be lovely, but you have to work harder to get the tastiness up. I was pescatarian for about four years, not any more cos the other half's Polish, and if i'm hungry there's always something porky available and I'm too weak to resist.

big difference between vegan & veg.
theres a lot of fat vegans (eating loads of s***e sugary food, just no meat!)

Don't think I'm unusual. Most vege mates enjoy the alternatives. Some don't. Like you say, each to their own.

Because they taste nice

I'm not a vegetarian but when we go to our normal gastropub I often have a veggie burger because they taste nicer than the beef ones.

My daughter used to be a veggie and came up once in the summer when I was having a bbq so I got veggie sausages for her and was quite surprised at how tasty they were when I tried one.

depends which veggie sausages you have of course - imaginative selection of ingredients with good use of texture and taste - good, processed pap - bad.
