No it wasn't.
In 72 we had a vertical-striped home kit and red/black stripes away (72/73?) unless we had a third kit I'm unaware of. Barca kit in 73/74 till 75/76, 76/77 we reverted to the sash FOR THE FIRST TIME AS A HOME KIT because we had the cup run mainly with the sash (apart from the Leeds away win). Parish is a purist and a fan and understands how flimsy the identity of a football club can be, hence he's stuck with red and blue (mainly stripes) to establish some tradition - otherwise it would be like changing the union jack to claret and blue - I've always thought a claret and blue sash kit would be nice as an away kit, a bit of a nod to our past.

If you want to know what our new HOME kit looks like:

Pam, (101) our oldest fan, will be modelling the first one!

I am not a bot. No, seriously, I'm not.

Poor old Nam Pam. The camera man could have given her a second go without her teeth falling out!

The kit is a bit underwhelming in my opinion. Not sure why we should have the white stripes in there.

Cards on the table; I don't like this third kit - it says nothing about Crystal Palace, and secondly this 1861 nonsense on the collar is embarrassing. We all know there has not been one continuous CPFC throughout the last 160 years and it just allows other clubs to take the p1ss out of us for trying to steal Notts. County's honest claim.

The taking the piss part I agree. We would be the oldest club in the world who've never really won anything. We can hardly be described as glory seekers. I'll take the League Cup please Mr Viera. And yes I do remember the ZDS, but not quite Division 3 South.

Erm, that wasn't Palace's home shirt for the season stated on the advert.

Have a look at the following link, that'll show that Palace didn't adopt the red and blue sash home kit until the 1975/76 season.

Yesterday when I referred to Palace 'liberating' the White sash kit from Man.City of course I meant pinched. Even right down to having number on the sleeves. I know this for absolute certain because as a young lad first getting into fooball I was an avid City fan, having first watched them at Selhurst Park in 1970. Three years later I was encouraged by my uncle who was die-hard Palace, to follow my local team instead. I did so, coincidentally following Malcolm Allison.

Andy Burton's kit history website should clarify the Palace/Man City sash issue...
