And did you expect them to beat Man City?

That victory was very unexpected of course but Man C were down to 10 men early in the game, have already won the League and have got to play in the final of the Champions League so these might have been factors in their defeat.

I will be surprised if Brighton win at Arsenal.

We looked good until Benteke went off, we went back to 4-4-2 with no height up top and therefore no out ball, we lost a man in the middle of the park, and then the game opened up for the likes of Odegaard and we couldn't get out of our own half for the last 20 minutes.

There must be a reason we aren't using Mateta, but the decision to make the above change rather than a straight swap size for size, in my opinion, really hurt us. Ward's positioning for the 2nd obviously didn't help, far too slow to get back in position after tracking the initial run, although absorbing that much pressure only needs one mistake to concede.

Enjoyable to be back and watch a game, glad to see Roy get a good send off and Benteke look so sharp. Looking forward to fixes for the above.

They win at Arsenal and we lose,as expected,at Liverpool they will finish above us on goal difference.

Brighton have lost 3 out of their last 4 away games, but all by a single goal.
Arsenal have won all 4 of their last PL games.

I don't expect us to get anything from Liverpool and it seems the 'big' teams often seem to allow themselves to be rolled over by Brighton, so it won't be the biggest surprise to me if Brighton finish the season above us. The only cause for a bit of optimism is that Arsenal could finish 7th by overtaking Spurs and Everton, who both have, on paper at least, tough games.

If you are right in your hypothesis Willo, then that was indeed a fine gesture, given that our new shining star is out of the game for several months.

On the vexed subject of the final result, my wife didn't say a word, she just looked at me with tears in her eyes as I lay prone in my chair gazing at the TV muttering incoherently.

Finally, was it me, or did Steve Parish look poorly when he made his presentation to Roy? Appeared like he could do with a couple of those pies from the Holmesdale which someone described as delicious.

I agree I thought SP looked rather ill, maybe Eze’s injury is a step too far for him. Must be worrying times

Fickle fate, of football. 90 minutes 1-1 94minutes 1-3. The ninety plus minute Liverpool goalkeepers goal, Eze, turns on a training pitch, and the form he showed at the weekend is put in the box for months. Brighton, taking two goals back from Man C, even a ten man Man C. Is more to do with fate than any real comparisons to be made between the two teams.
Incidentally no wonder Parish looks a bit pushed. The fates didn’t smile on him yesterday on at least two accounts, And IMO he and the club are in desperate need of the fates smiling on them over the next six months at least ,as with yesterday’s news, the job of keeping Palace on the up is getting harder by the day.

Stress. Half the team out of contract. No new contracts signed. Manager to appoint. Working really hard on due diligence on players only for West Ham (and now Leeds?) to gazump us. Sainsbury's ransom strip and the stadium development. Tension with the Americans (?). Trying to shift revenue balance away from near 100% dependence on TV. Improvement of the pies. Will there be another season of Line of Duty...

That explains it.

It’s common, that after teams are crowned champions, they don’t perform to same level.

Arsenal are going for an Europa league place, they will be full on.

So how did pockets of Arsenal fans get into Holmesdale and Whitehorse? Apparently bit of trouble in Whitehorse.
Son says someone on Twitter who commented works for Utilita and called our manager Woy!!
Club will have to investigate surely

I've just seen the clip of the Arse fans in the Whitehorse, very odd that they could get so many tickets all in the same area. There weren't any around me in the Holmesdale. If they were in their allocated seats, it should be very easy for the club to find out where the tickets came from.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
