He has been in training since returning from compassionate leave. Perhaps he's just not match fit yet (although surely he'd be on the bench if that was the only issue?) He's such a great personality so I hope he does come back stronger.

I’m intrigued when people say this. Have you met him? I’ve met James Mac - top guy.

I would take much convincing to happily accept luka starting a match for us.

Sadly only a shadow of his former self.

Eze Peasy at Anfield....

For me I'm basing it on interviews and some of the silly stuff I've seen on Palace TV over the years. I wouldn't stand up in court as a character witness, but I'd buy him a pint

Has anyone met him in Nandos to confirm what he's like in the flesh?

Luka came off the bench in one of the pre-season games (Charlton I think) but he struggled with the system IMO. Of course, he might have picked up a niggle in training. Time will tell.

He came on as sub against Ipswich and was on the receiving end of a nasty tackle, perhaps he is injured

Interesting that Reece Hannam came on wearing the No. 4 shirt yesterday??

It does seem there is a story behind Luca's downfall. At one time he was one of our best players and a real force in midfield.

He has had a real fall in form. It's hard not to link this with whatever has caused him to need compassionate leave. It could be coincidence but naturally if given compassionate leave it must be of a personal nature and so is morally wrong for the club to give the actual reason. Whatever the reason I hope it is not too serious and that it is able to be resolved and he is able to move on from it and begin to regain some form as there is a good quality player in there.

Luca, looked over weight and sluggish, when he came on against Ipswich, If his summer so far has been dominated by a personal issue, then it’s possible he hasn’t been able to keep in shape, and if that’s so , then it might take some time for him to get back up to full Premier, match fitness. Luca, has got more scope to his game than appeared to be the case last season, let’s hope Viera, can get him fit, and use him in a more expansive manner than has been the case in recent times.
