behaviour carefully calculated to stymie the opposition, take a yellow and crucify a fella.

Sergio Ramos half killing the Liverpool goalkeeper with a karate elbow strike to the head.

Rudiger deliberate assault on Kevin De Bruyne

both thugs went on to win the Champions League Final . Sergio Ramos has got 26 Red Cards and still the fans & managers love him.

Joey Barton....stupid thug who loses games for you.

ramos....calculated thug, cynical and often a match winner.

discuss

The same reason that diving is still a popular thing to do - because in years to come all that matters is the record books. Who was the winner?
How they won is lost in time.

Agree with you totally about blatant fouling PV. Hate see it and not looking forward to facing Watford again next year for that reason. Always try to kick us off the park.

But, Rudiger? Wasn't convinced he deliberately went into De Bruyne intending to do damage. He does tend to be hard I agree, but a terrific contribution yesterday. Although I know it pains you!

Tell you what though, you'd love him at Selhurst in place of, say Ward or van Aanholt I bet.

There are a number of players most of us would say are thugs / wind up merchants surprisingly most of these guys are rarely if ever sent off.

Was Robbie Savage ever sent off? If he was not often.

So to answer you question yes being a thug is a skill and the good ones target players like Wilf wind them up and walk away smirking.

It's probably always happened think of dirty Leeds under Bremner.

Damien Delaney, Paddy Mac, Claude Davis, we've had our share, and that's only in recent times.

Yes, but ours get carded or give away free kicks in stupid shooting areas. That's the difference.
Also, we're crap at set pieces so it doesn't help us anyway. Maybe a new manager could consider actually working on them.

Athletico Madrid or Roy Keane...... thugs with silverware.

some gentle players who never got booked ? not so much silver.

Samir Nasri ? another liability of the Joey Barton ilk. A match loser.

Bloomin' 'eck. Just been reading that. Poor sod - it certainly looked nasty.

when Sergio Ramos hospitalized Mo Salah, it was a recognised jiu-jitsu move....not an accidental 'coming together'

and again, its the best player on the pitch that got targetted.

Real Madrid won the title that day.

It strikes me that referees know football, but not fight-club. Ramos is another violent thug masquerading as a footballer.
