Fair enough - I think it's a valid criticism of Southgate that he is over-cautious, but I don't think it could be applied yesterday and it's an approach which has generally worked for him in tournaments.

I think language like "we really should be pasting 3-0 with 70% possession" is where you lose me - the same logic says France should've pasted Switzerland, and Holland pasted Czech Republic, but that's not how football works and certainly not knockout tournament football.

Southgate is cautious, but we don't have a divine right to beat anyone - safety first has worked so far.

The same logic does apply and France certainly should be beating Switzerland 3-0 and Netherlands should be beating Czech (less convincingly). The France result was appalling and the sort of result where the manager could get sacked. They turned up with poor tactics and mentality.

We don't have devine right to beat anyone, but using my example of Man City vs Burnley (which I think is a fair comparison), Man City do usually beat Burnley about 3-0 with about 70% possession. If we were coached as well as Man City, we would be thumping the average teams rather than edging through.

Negativity breeds negativity. I don't believe its the way to win a tournament.

And in every international tournament in history you have at least a handful of examples of underdog victories - it's the nature of the sport and particularly the format.

If your barometer is essentially 'anything other than a 3-0 drubbing isn't good enough' then you're going to be disappointed a lot of the time - it's just an unrealistic expectation. No one does that.

Don't agree the City/Burnley one is a particuarly good comparison; club football, and particularly league football, has a completely different dynamic in terms of risk, and therefore how you approach the game. We're also nowhere near as good as Man City who have world-class players from all corners of the globe in every position. There's also obviously infinitely more training time at club football to influence performances.

Nice one mate. We should make it to the semis so don't blame you for grabbing some tickets. Should be a brilliant occasion..

Nobody commenting on the boy from New Malden?

I got offered two corporate tickets, free booze and food for 」4k. I coughed and spluttered a bit and booked a table at my local pub! Enjoy it, hopefully it will be Eng V Denmark as that will be a decent game.

I gave 1300 for 2 tickets. Normal seats. Was offered 」650, 」800 and 」900 tickets.
Went to the World Cup in Germany 20 odd years ago and was too skint to get into a ground. 」650 is strong for a ticket, but I think it痴 coming home

Also spent a fortune on tickets. 500 on semi final and 800 on final. Took a gamble and bought them before Germany game. If we lose to Ukraine I値l be very miserable 😂

Good on you. Based on the pricing, it's hardly the working mans game any more though!

I've been surprised by Switzerland - hoping they beat Spain.
