It's true democracy but shambolic.

Anybody could stand up in the town square and say their piece the best orators naturally won the argument. The problem was the following day somebody else would argue the opposite and they also would win the day.

Athens ended up flip flopping all over the place but it certainly was pure democracy.

For me it's more about only men and land owners getting a say....which I suppose in the modern day would be home owners.

A bit tongue in cheek but still...

I view democracy as I view the jury system, 7/10 participants just don't have the IQ to do it justice....if you pardon the pun.

One problem for me with PR, is hung parliaments. At a national level we aren't very good at coalitions.

Great if you like Spartans taking over your city and only men can vote. No foreigners were allowed to vote either.

It is ironic the Athenians invented the concept of democracy when you see the shambles they are a couple of millenia later.

They had a big party at the EU's expense and not a sign of mea culpa.

People with 2/3 government pensions sitting outside all day drinking coffee.

No wonder the Cretans for example not keen on Athens.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I'm not leaving anyone alone with our two.....We'd find the babysitter buried in the garden.

I did like the idea of getting drunk at Butlins but we played it safe.....nope, rather exotic ice cream mixtures was as interesting as it got.

Do you eat that? I've always steered clear myself, just like I've never eaten black pudding or haggis.

Agree with you to an extent. For example, all able bodied adults should be capable of acquiring an ID to allow them to vote. But if you go down the line of IQ tests to vote, at some point you'll start stopping disabled people from voting which isn't right.

The main reason why you shouldn't leave the democratic process to "intellectuals" is best explained by the final seen in the World's End.

Haggis is delicious! Being an English Philistine I prefer it battered from a chip shop but the regular stuff is nice too.
