Southgates assistant Chris Powell thought was a good manager

Did well at Charlton. Started his career with us

Had some tough jobs at lower league clubs but obviously Southgate rates him.

Lives locally, not at another club so no poaching or comp to pay

Your criteria appears to be:

Mate of Southgate
Failed lower league manager
Lives locally ( you didnt state where )
No compenstation to pay.

I hope Parishs requirements differ.

You could say he got Charlton promoted and then they got a bit big for their boots and got relegated

Pep would probably have trouble managing teams like Huddersfield and Southend

Cooper has done not a lot more.

Played for England, trusted member of England set up. Don't see him as worse than Cooper but apparently we are back in for him

Easy enough to sound out Southgate to see what he thinks about Powell

Nobody was in Dyche when he was sacked by Watford- and we had a fancy then

Southgate - wasn't interested but if England win on Tuesday he will be the best thing since sliced bread

Southgate was chosen by Venables primarily because he had great football intelligence. He was totally inexperienced when he got the Boro job and he has clearly learnt from his mistakes - you can't just take for granted the three at the back system he employed leading up to the last World Cup and how successful it was. I had big doubts before the Croatia game and Southgate rammed it all back down our throats - totally vindicated. You can argue that he should have started Grealish last game and not played Trippier on the left but professor hindsight is always right - it's never that straightforward. Generally I'd say for Palace fans to turn their nose up at Southgate is a serious case of delusions of grandeur - it would be an amazing appointment, but this is very hypothetical.

I've always thought he would have been a good fit for us but like Dyche, when we were looking - we didn't go for them when they were available. They've always spoke sense and really that and a few sensible tactics are what players need. I'd say man management is almost the most important aspect

Southgate is very well suited to his current position.

Two semi finals in a row.... ain't bad at all.

Three, if you include the nations league.
Before him we hadn't won a knock out game since 2006.

Hodgson lite isn't a fair representation. He's won 9 games at tournament compared to Hodgson's 2. (4-0 in terms of knock out games).

No-one includes the Nation's League!
