Nice words from Favre from an Amazon documentary on Borussia Dortmund (their equivalent of 'Where Eagles Dare'):

"...you (also) need physical potential.Everyone says mental strength is very important. But to have mental strength on the pitch, you need players who, before all else, are able to run...Because saying: 'He has a super mentality, but he can't run back and forth' - that's no use. And if you have a player on the team who does nothing defensively, you don't have a team. Nowadays you have to be able to play hurt. They can suffer, really suffer. This is... you asked me about my philosophy. To play football, but... You can have a team, a real team. And then you can wage war if you have that."

I fear for Luka and the two Jimmy Macs because one doesn't run very much, the other two do but not very fast any more, Scott Dann was a gonner already now it's a cert ... and I like the emphasis on 'team', you see some sides at the Euros and they don't have much of a Plan B, they don't regroup and come together to meet the challenge (Poland have been guilty of this, only deciding to play when they were 2-0 in the final group game). The more a side gels the more fluid is its play and the more combinations it can make ... it gives you an idea of what he's aiming at, be interesting to see who he brings in and gets rid of to progress towards his style.

That’s Jairo fecked so

Oh dear, although I am not entirely surprised. I've said all along that it is going to take a brave man to take on this job.

Perhaps Favre is using the threat to walk to eke out the promise of a few more million in transfer funds from Parish.

Because we are quite possibly the worst run club in the country that has a well oiled propaganda machine telling us how great we are and how lucky we are to exist. Parish should of had a new manager lined up end of the season stick insect t*** was to busy w***ing watch his documentary released confidently before the worst pre season ever. We have 12 players under contract and no manager I can see double relegation. Genuinely falling out of love with football palace just ain't enjoyable at all mercenary players but we can't get nobody to coach them the only player I have sentiments for has been trying to engineer a move for the last 3 seasons.

Looks like all the candidates (not to mention all us supporters) can see what Parish can't.

This has developed an unstoppable momentum.

That's it. No manager for the beginning of the season, and future candidates now hold all the aces.

Oh dear Mr Parish, wtf have you gone and done?

All these so called names being touted about as the next Palace manager is becoming so frustrating with the new season just around
the corner.
It’s going to be a typical Palace cop out and low and behold in walks Dougie Freedman or Chris Coleman.
Moan over!

Why is this Steve Parrish's fault?

Surely the finger should be pointed at both these Managers and their representatives who knew what was on offer, and in the case of Favre, had accepted the deal, and if we believe what is said even sent out messages to the players. Again, if we are to believe what is said, I would not want someone who clearly has no morals. They would both be told quite straight as to what is on offer, why would SP say otherwise?

This is not a lost cause club, this is potentially a club that have a good system of development and growth. This is exciting times for Palace. But to expect European and FA cups within the first couple of seasons, is delusional. With all the players and money of Spurs and Everton, I dont see them pulling up the Managers tree!

If this news is true, then good riddance as far as I am concerned. I would like someone the same as SP, who wants what's best for those that have the best interest and the love of our club at heart.

I agree. Getting tired of people hurling abuse at Parish et all. Someone above even called us the worst run football club in the prem. Absolute joke. They're astute business people who probably have more intelligence, experience and acumen than the rest of us put together.
We chatted to Nuno. He made ridiculous demands. Parish didn't want to put the club in jeopardy by meeting them. Good on him I say. We the line up Favre, obviously impressed him enough to agree to join...only pull out last minute for personal reasons. Not Steve's fault.

Maybe Favre did a Boris and didn't study the small print...

Klinsmann admitting on MOTD that he is looking for a club...
