I used to wear flared jeans with patches, flowery shirts/kipper ties and a medallion. Then moved onto skinny chinos with white socks in the early 1980's.

The fact, some years later, my arse falls out the back of my trousers and my moobs fall out, is no longer a fashion statement, but an indication of going beyond middle-age.

I often comment when a news reporter on the telly isn't wearing a tie, and was apoplectic the other day when Mary Nightingale presented the news wearing trainers. On the subject of underpants, I'd like to know if I'm much like other blokes. It's resentment that stops me splashing out my hard earned cash on them regularly. Having said that, I've got about two pairs for "special", you know, in case I get lucky! Another half dozen that are acceptable. Then there's the sporty ones that last forever and the emergency ones when you get behind with the laundry. Not forgetting the joke ones. One pair I have says "Fart Loading...." So, all in all, about a dozen. Maybe 14 pairs. Some of which, I swear, must be at least ten years old.
