I keep reading that we have just one Centre Back -James Tomkins. What has happened to Kouyate?

His preferred position is in midfield. Where PV wants to play him is yet to be revealed?

Kouyate is a CB not a midfielder, he played all his games for Anderlecht and Senegal as CD any many at West Spam.

His better position is Centre Back and with Kelly and Jay Baghuelou who I think is going to be a great centre half in the next year or so means we probably only need to buy one CH this window.

We signed him as a defensive midfielder,. he is also described as a midfielder on his player profile for the club and on the profiles here. I prefer him as a CB, as he can do a tidy job there. It's good for us that he can play in both roles. We need that right now.

Not having him as a CB. He’s played 169 times at CB and 208 in cm/cdm in his career. If you take the National team and the times he’s played there for us he’s a CDM. Edited by lefty27 (09 Jul 2021 3.39pm)

If we can get a centre half I would assume PV would prefer him to play in midfield as he is probably the nearest thing we have to PV the player.

When Viera first appeared as a rumour I looked into his tactical analysis. At Nice Viera played Danilo at centre back as he liked to have a defender who would carry the ball out of defence into the midfield areas. Danilo was, as trade, a central midfielder and converted by PV to this role. Given this I expect Kouyate to be employed at central defence to take up this role.

We still could do with an aggressive ball playing midfielder. Any chance of cloning PV?
