Crusties, vegans and non-binaries will gather round and hold hands and say 'Milo is free, the people's poet is free'.

My family are all vegan, they most certainly are not celebrating this decision

That's fair enough.

Look at it as carrying on the stereotype discourse. Remember, Milo is also the first name of a very non-woke blogger of Greek heritage. So another stereotype blown out of the water.

I find it amusing in itself that the people tried for this vandalism were all White and middle class.

The judge in this case should be struck off and a retrial ordered.

Wonder if they’ve checked their family trees for any slave related misdemeanours? Not an issue for us peasants but who knows what lurks in their histories?

I think the judge was wrong to allow the defence to produce a historian who was allowed to lecture the jury for 2 hours on the evils of slavery. He should have put a stop to that the defence should only be allowed to produce evidence / justification that was relevant to the charge.

For example the statue was structurally unsafe and I told the council that but they ignored me so in order to protect lives we pulled it down rather than it collapse on a passer by.

If the defendants wished to justify their actions so be it but an expert witness was wrong.

It's absurd.

The idea that a group of White middle class idealists decide that most Black people can't handle the complexities of history and will somehow wilt at the sight of a statue is so patronizing and bonkers that it is hard to believe that It's all real.

Moreover, although this case has caused a few ripples, the implications are very serious and worthy of a far greater backlash.
The jury were clearly intimidated and manipulated. Had we had a guilty verdict, no doubt it would have led to BLM and other assorted layabouts causing more damage and using threatening behaviour, with the jury themselves probably exposed to risk.

The government needs to act decisively and stop worrying about woke votes. The public should be demanding that.
