For which centre back PAIRING would people swap our two?

My answer: none.

Some pairings may be better, some have individuals who are a bit stronger, but the combination of age and all round game...I wouldn't swap for anyone.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Better get used to this sort of claim, we now have a number of very saleable assets, players. And the summer rumour machines are yet to get into full swing.
In the past the rumours have tended to be about the players that didn’t want us or we could not get for lack of cash. I expect this year it will be as much about who we are obliged to surrender to the mega money. Which ever way, the stories invariably have a negative slant for Palace.

Don't get me wrong, I think Andersen and especially Guehi are absolute quality; however, they both seem to get bullied quite easily. That's not so much of an issue in the PL these days where teams seem more about the high press and passing than direct balls, but I do think it is something the coaching team need to look at as it does make us vulnerable from set-pieces and crosses. If you could inject them with a bit of Delaney's aggression I think that would help.

My understanding is that if we do sell, Chelsea has a clause giving them the right of first refusal. And I'm told that he is very much in their mid-to-long-term plans. However, no danger of it happening this summer. As for Spurs wanting to sign him, I'm sure they do. Along with half-a-dozen other top clubs. But that's just clickbait. Reporter: "Mr. Conte, what do you think of Marc Guehi?" Conte: "Great player". Story in newspaper" "Spurs move in for Guehi".

I think it's a clause that says they have the right to match the best offer we receive rather than first refusal, so if a club were to offer us more than Chelsea were willing to pay, we would sell to that club and not Chelsea.

Spurs are giving Conte £150m and Tuchel is promised £200m to refresh their squads. Haven't heard how much cash Patrick will have available, but, for sure it won't be that much.

Dougie and his team will need to put together some pretty slick deals to stay in the hunt next term so it's crucial that we hang on to players like Olise and Guehi.

I feel confident, from what we've seen and heard, that they will still be Palace, at least for another year. But then, what do I know?

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I believe this to be correct

Pretty sure if Chelsea were serious we'd only listen if a deal was to be made inclusive of CG but regardless, Guehi might have no interest in returning to a club who deemed him not good enough.

I would suggest that at 25 Pereira is no longer 'young' in footballing terms, a flair player yes, but not so young.

I agree with you (as I am sure does Parish) that it's vital we have a good blend of youth and experience. If we look at our current squad of outfield players I could see the following more mature players featuring regularly:
- Tomkins/Kouyate for 1 position
- Ward (or CLyne if he signs)
- McArthur/Milivojevic for 1 position
- Benteke/Ayew for 1 position depending on the striker style PV wants in any particular game.
- Zaha (assuming he stays)
That leaves 4 places for the youngsters as follows
- Guehi at CB
- Mitchell/Hannam at LB
- Eze/Olise as an AM
- Rak-Sakyi/A N Other as a wide player
and 1 place in midfield undecided Schlupp/Riedewald/A N Other.
I think the current incoming transfer focus may well be for a wide player (Lookman seems to be under consideration, I believe).

We knew this window was going to be interesting and it isn't disappointing.

Very decent piece of prescience DB and let's hope that Dougie and his team have enough to bring in the replacements we need.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

Agree, he has had the best season of his life (at lest professionally).

he will be 100% focused on starting the season well and getting on that plane to Qatar

Completely agree with this, and I think Guehi and Andersen are as close to irreplaceable as we can get at the moment. The change in playing style is based on playing out from the back - these two do it brilliantly, and I don't see anyone else accessible to Palace who could do the same. Most centre-backs outside the top 6 are determined cloggers and spoilers, but these two are cultured footballers who are the basis of the hugely more enjoyable football we've seen this season.

Very promising! Now get Pereira from WBA, a loan deal for Gallagher (Chelsea), and then buy Lokman from his German club. With or without WZ, this will make Palace such an exciting act this season.

Well, we did not get Lokman or Pereira, but what a fantastic signing CG has been. Wish him all the best for the future - hopefully as an Eagle.
