[Link] Apparently this was an accident and the driver going three times over the speed limit was irrelevant. To my knowledge safety glass that would have saved seven lives has not been installed. The above is NOT a sick comedy, yes it is real!

In my mind that's clear negligence. Almost manslaughter, at least death by reckless behaviour. Ridiculous decision.

Presumably the Tory government's fault.

If the driver fell asleep, however caused, according to the foreman of the jury, there is clear negligence.

However the victims were not killed unlawfully.

Confused.

problem is, unless people are tested fit for work in the mornings, some may have only had 3-4 hours sleep & possibly been on booze n gear all night.
Many think they can blag it.
its common in building trade(unless the buck actually stops with you) and other jobs.
i used to contract to a very expensive private care home. On occasions several people (middle management ) i had to meet, were so lagging they wre literally slidding down the lift wall, eyes semi closed...so if you're driving a train, tram, bus ?

Disgusting by the unions to even make up this nonsense that it was a micro sleep.

If he was too tired to work a professional driver should not have worked. He is needs to take accountability for his own actions.

On top of that, how if he was tired why was he approaching a bend on a adverse camber at excessive speed if he was tired.

If there had been earlier reports of trams leaving the tracks whilst travelling at excessive speed why didn't the operator take adequate steps to address the problem.

The tram manufacturers safety system which allowed the doors wasn't properly thought through for all scenarios.

On the day this happened it was brushed to the back of the news as had just been elected. The inquiry has been pushed back and back in the hope people forget, when it came round to it the unions have clearly closed ranks. Barely a mention in the news again.

This isn't a story that has trended on twitter. The outraged masses don't give a s*** about people dying in unfashionable areas of London. The driver and operating company have gotten away with 7 murders.

the scandal of the Tram-crash is worse than Grenfell.

Tons of human error, incompetence & hubris.

Grenfell was awful but 'part human negligence/ part accident'.

Croydon was all human-error.

at the time of crash, there was talk of tram drivers competing to take the fatal section / bend of track at highest speed.
I dont know if this was brought up at inquest?
