Simon Jordan ( who i tespect) has a very simple and totally pragmatic view
Depreciate his cost over years with us
Not got figures infront of me but lets guess 5m per year

Plus 100k a week?

So sale value about 5m and save wages 5m a year

After that?

Get rid unless on outcomes xcontract

Who else will give same?

In answer to the OP, NO.

Now we have a conundrum, at present CB is sitting pretty, hefty wages, did what he had to do(again) last season to get another contract.

Now, what's available, Ayew, no, squad player at best, hardly has set the world alight, even in the first 2 pre-season games. Street, not yet ready(inho), Mateta, least said about him the better(imo) notice I've NOT included Wilf, he's not an out n out No9.

Now, thing is, why are loads of 'clickbait' sites linking us to re-sign 'Bats'? Do I know what the answer is, no, course not, no more than any of you lot.

Interesting times ahead tho.

Possibly, because with Vieira's style of play there's more chance of balls into the box for a goal poacher like Batshuayi to latch onto. But then, I'm just guessing.

Cant deny what you're saying, could be that 'Bats' last season was a victim of 'Royball'. He is, as you say, a 'fox in the box' type player, but, at what cost to us?

Agreed. A lazy SOB just picking up his wages.

I agree with you and Father Ken. But a type of forward like him (who's not a lazy...) would be a useful addition given the style of play we've seen in the first two friendlies.

No despite him not scoring as many as we all hoped. How in hell would you replace him for £13.5M

Don’t write Mateta off. He may just surprise us yet.

I tend to agree. At least he got something to those efforts against Ipswich. Couple of those go an inch to the right and he's bagged himself a brace.

Not fully writing him off as I want every Palace player to succeed and Lord knows I've had patience for other players a lot longer than mateta who only joined in Jan!

But he needs to really show his stuff because right now Benteke is ahead of him in the pecking order and mateta has done nothing yet to convince me that come August 14th he will be on that starting XI team sheet against Chelsea
