Just a reminder that PV has stated publicly that he only wants to play ONE holding midfielder not two. However, he does expect one of the other two midfielders to drop back when one of the full backs has bombed forward.

So a midfield set=up (after the Chelsea game) might look like this:

Riedewald
Gallagher Schlupp (or McArthur)

As for NEED, just 2 more - a wide player and a striker IMO

Save some money for the January window in case we need to strengthen.

So we lost a goolie, sortied. So we lost 3 centerbacks, we signed 2 so almost sorted. We lost a left back. I think they don't want to sort that cause of Mitchell and (Schlupp, Ridewald). We lost a winger and that is sorted. Ofcourse the amount of experience in the prem goes down like 500 games at least with the changes, but still.

A smashing window so far. Can we keep a motivated Zaha, get Lookman in, and having Eze as an ace for the latter part of season - truly look forward to this season.
Only worry: our manager ditch the Palace DNA and try to make us a Barcelona light!

If PV wants to play just one holding midfielder then this should be a priority. We have no pace in this role currently and whilst we look good with the ball, once we lose it our current D Midfielders turn like oil tankers and get overwhelmed
We need a Southgate or KG style of player with pace to sit Infront of the back 4. Not exciting but scoring 3 goals is no good if we concede 4.

A right back, a CM and a winger or striker.

I say winger or striker depending on whether Vieira would rather, if it came to it with injuries, be stuck playing Zaha up front for 25 games or Ayew wide for 25 games. Whichever he prefers least, fill that gap.

It could be as simple as Gallacher, Clyne, Souare (emergency cover if he's trained okay albeit I'd be surprised if he's good enough), and another loan up top meaning the spending is effectively done. Lookman on a loan to buy would be a class deal but no idea if they'd entertain that.

26th January 2010 - Enter Administration
2nd May 2010 - D-Day 1 - Survival at Hillsborough
1st June 2010 - D-Day 2 - Survival at Lloyds
7th June 2010 - CPFC2010 exchange contracts.

I think we may get another CB as I think Viera may want to play 3 at the back on occasion. It is possible that Jaro may be tried in that role as he has played there sucessfully for Ajax. However I remember what he looked like against Huddesfield when he joined (but he has filled out since then)

We have needed backup wingers for ages, cover for injury ,suspension or if Zaha goes. I think we have some promising cover in our younger players however I am not sure they are ready yet. Would they be better going on loan to a championship side or gaining experience in u23 as we have been promoted. Therefore I think we need at least 1 possibly 2 wingers (1 permanent other on loan)

We need an alternative to Benteke and so far Mateta does not look EPL ready. So we need a sriker and again I am not sure the younger players are ready. I can't see us getting a striker on loan (other than from abroad) so this may need to be a young promising player from lower leagues.

Our defensive Midfield could do with some younger blood but if we get Gallagher on loan this is a lower priority. Unless we go back for Downes from Ipswich (and he has recoverd from injury)

I think we'll make 3 more full signings and 2 loans. That should just about do it. This is only phase 1 of the rebuild and should see us through this season, assuming the manager can make it all work!

Assuming we get Gallagher, then priority is LB and winger. One injury to Mitchell and we have no cover. Eze is out for most (if not all) of the season. Hoping Ayew features as a striker cos he's pointless on wing.

Young striker and a loan winger/attacking midfield for 6 months until Eze is fit.

Wouldn't mind Gallagher on loan, not essential.

LB is a bit weak but Mitchell is our future. If injured, Schlupp, Reidewald, Clyne and Kelly are all capable of stepping in and doing a job.

Assuming Gallagher signs totally agree a young striker plus a winger (either loan or permie) should be the focus.

I think we might just be ok a full back, assuming no bad injuries, with Hannam coming through and hopefully some Fergie time this season.

Also think CB is ok now - don't forget although we had 6 last season we had 2 or 3 permanently injured (combination of Sakho, Tomkins, Kelly and Cahill were unavailable for most of the season). Geuhi and Andersen appear to have a much better injury record which bodes well. The reason we signed Cahill 2 years ago was because both Sakho and Tomkins were injured at that time
