Considering the other areas that we need cover for, and a mid fielder is thought to be needed , I just hope we don’t spend to much time haggling , without showing a clear interest in someone else. If Watford put him out of our range don’t spend the next two weeks trying to change that without a take it or leave it offer, based on our own option of another choice. There does seem to be a pattern here with Armstrong. That too was a derisory bid - unless it went to deadline with no one else in. Can't say Im sorry to see this hard-nosed attitude. It is essentially a buyer's market right now Be a shame to let a diamond through of course but we are operating on a shoestring again now I assume given our early splurge - and there too I think we got it right by strengthening at the back as the priority. Armstrong could yet prove to be a diamond but 20 plus mill was going to be beyond us I imagine. Hughes? Useful but replaceable is how I see it.

Our £5m offer has been rejected by Watford. Interesting to see what happens, in his last year of contract, so he can go for free next summer.

At £5m he’s worth a punt, but surely in time he’ll be no more than a squad player. Can’t imagine there is going to be loads of competition for him. Villa a rumoured, but he’s not getting in that team.

Always been a niggly opposition player that I’ve disliked when playing against us. Probably the type of player we need and will become a fan’s favourite. It’s a YES from me :-)
